There were plenty of couples in Teen Wolf, but Stiles and Lydia easily became the fan-favorite. Stiles had a crush on Lydia since the third grade, but she never paid him any attention. Their relationship evolves past Stiles' school-boy crush and the two both mature and become best friends.
While Stiles also had Scott and Lydia had Allison, there was always something different about Stiles and Lydia's friendship. Stiles began to fall for the girl Lydia had become, rather than an idolized version of her, and Lydia began to see Stiles in an entirely new light. Their journey might have been long, but there were plenty of great Stydia quotes along the way.
"Lydia, Please Shut Up And Let Me Save Your Life."
Stiles and Lydia always worry about each other more than they worry about themselves. When Lydia is held hostage in Eichen House and her banshee abilities are taken advantage of, Stiles hatches a plan to save her. Everyone in the McCall pack plays a part in getting her out, but Stiles was the only one who wouldn't be weakened by the mountain ash.
When Lydia tells Stiles to leave her because of the danger, the famous quote is what finally gets her to accept his help. The camera zooms in on Lydia's face as she stares at Stiles, and "Find My Way Back" by Eric Arjes plays at full blast. The way the scene was shot made it seem as if Lydia realized her feelings for Stiles at that moment.
"Barrow Was There. Okay? You Knew It. You Felt It. And Look, If You Wanted To, I'd Go Back To That School And Search All Night Just To Prove It."
Lydia was still struggling to understand her Banshee abilities, but she had slowly started to become more confident. But that confidence wavers when the entire pack forms a plan based on her intuition, which later appears to be wrong.
Lydia was feeling down on herself that night and guilty for getting Stiles detention. But Stiles believed in Lydia and knew that she was right, even if it didn't seem like it. Stiles has always been Lydia's biggest advocate, and his faith in her gives them a foundation of love and .
"If You Die, I Will Literally Go Out Of My Freakin' Mind."
Stiles and Lydia still didn't know each other very well in Teen Wolf season 2, and Stiles's crush on Lydia wasn't grounds for a real relationship. Because of that, this quote wasn't very impactful when it was first said, but it turns out to be true later in the show. While their relationship develops, Lydia and Stiles constantly look out for each other.
By the second half of the series, Lydia is genuinely one of the most important people in Stiles's life, and it makes sense that losing her would send him on a downward spiral.
"Stiles Saved Me."
Stiles and Lydia saved each other countless times, but something shifted when Stiles rescued her from Eichen House. He formulated the plan to get her out, stayed by her side, and held her in the back of his jeep while she tried to keep her banshee screams contained.
There's a scary moment at Deaton's when it appears that Lydia didn't make it, and Stiles begging Lydia to wake up is heartbreaking. When she does open her eyes, the first thing she sees is Stiles. Her face is flooded with emotion as they hold hands and her declaration about Stiles had everyone beaming with pride.
"Whoever It Is, I Think I Loved Him."
Teen Wolf went out of its way to keep viewers in the dark about Lydia's love for Stiles. There were comments and observations from other characters, but Lydia never explicitly stated how she felt. To be fair, the "show don't tell" rule was applied here nicely, as while she might not have said it out loud, it was obvious through her actions.
But fans had been waiting six years for some kind of verbal indication from Lydia, and they finally got it. After Stiles is erased by the Ghost Riders, Lydia feels like a part of her is missing and discovers that she was in love with whoever was taken.
"Everything's Changed."
Even though Stiles's love for Lydia matured and evolved over the course of the show, she was always who he wanted to be with. Stiles understood that his feelings for her were unrequited, and he never tried to make her feel bad about it during their friendship.
But feelings don't magically go away, and Stiles never stopped loving Lydia, even if there were times when he should have. Being with Lydia was something that felt impossible for a long time, and when it finally happened, both Stiles and Lydia's lives were changed for the better.
"It Needs To Be Someone Who Can Pull You Back. Someone That Has A Strong Connection To You. A Kind Of Emotional Tether. Lydia, You Go With Stiles."
Stiles, Scott, and Allison all had to temporarily die in order to perform a druid ritual and save their parents. In order to be revived, the person who held them under the ice water had to have a strong personal connection to them. The relationship would serve as an emotional tether to pull them back to the land of the living.
Lydia automatically moved towards Allison, but Deaton stopped her. He put Allison with Isaac and paired Lydia with Stiles, as even he could pick up on the emotional connection between them. It's fitting, given that the two always manage to save each other from the brink of death.
"I Didn't Say It Back." "You Don't Have To."
Stiles truly does know Lydia better than anyone, and their reunion is proof of it. Although Stiles knew Lydia didn't have feelings for him during the first few seasons, he clearly picked up on a change. By season 6, he had already realized Lydia was in love with him, but he let her come to the realization on her own.
He never pressured her, and when Stiles told Lydia he loved her before he was taken, it wasn't because he was expecting something in return. Lydia beats herself up over not saying it back, but when they reunite, Stiles reveals that he already knew how she felt about him.
"When I Kissed You, You Held Your Breath."
The first kiss between Stiles and Lydia is undeniably the best kiss in the series. It wasn't meant to be a real kiss, as Lydia was just trying to distract Stiles from his panic attack, but real feelings emerged from it. Stiles is so caught up in what just transpired between them that his breathing returns to normal. They stare at each other for a long moment, and when Stiles can finally speak, he asks Lydia how she stopped the panic attack.
She reveals that he held his breath when she kissed him, and the emotion on Stiles's face speaks for itself. Lydia later realizes that it was the moment she first felt something other than friendship for Stiles, and her feelings for him had been growing ever since. The memory of the kiss is so powerful, that it opens up a rift between dimensions and transports Stiles back home when he's taken.
" I Love You."
Stiles's declaration of love seconds before he's erased from existence is the most impactful Stydia quote by far. When Stiles realized it was too late to run, he used what time he had to tell Lydia how he felt about her. Lydia insisted that she wouldn't forget Stiles, and in a way, she was right.
She was the only one of her friends who was convinced that he existed, even if she didn't know who he was. Out of all the things Stiles could have asked Lydia to , asking her to that he loves her was the purest thing he could have said.
