As confirmed in an interview with Collinder, Jeff Davis, the creator of the show and writer of the film, said Stiles' absence will be addressed in the movie. This may hint that his character will be dead in the Teen Wolf film.
Stiles' absence is a problem for the film but Teen Wolf: The Movie may choose to deal with escaping Stiles' shadow by killing off the character altogether.
