When the series was first announced, no one expected Teen Wolf to be more than a teen-targeted, cheesy rip-off of the 1985 film. Yet MTV'S supernatural drama proved skeptics wrong with its multi-layered characters, carefully crafted relationships, and intricate plotlines.
The show commonly catches viewers off-guard and leaves them reeling with each new installment. However, with outside influences and popular tropes being reused, nothing is completely original in today's day and age. Teen Wolf delivers a fair share of shocking plot twists, but several aspects of the series are predictable.
Kira Is A Supernatural Creature
When Kira s the main cast of Teen Wolf Season 3, it's clear that she's going to tie into the supernatural side of things. Everyone Scott knows is conveniently related to the paranormal, and Kira is no exception. The characters are the only ones who are shocked when Kira's powers show themselves in Season 3 Episode 15, "Galvanize."
No matter how easy it is to see coming, Kira's storyline is still enjoyable. She's the first kitsune introduced to the show, and her abilities are unlike anything the McCall Pack has dealt with before.
Allison Is Still In Love With Scott
Scott and Allison have plenty of romantic tropes in Teen Wolf, but a love triangle isn't among them. They have an amicable breakup during the second season and remain friends throughout the third. Scott and Allison split due to extenuating circumstances, rather than a lack of love.
While Allison's death is heartbreaking, her love confession to Scott doesn't come as a shock. The show attempts to highlight her new romance with Isaac in Teen Wolf Season 3, but it's obvious to fans where Allison's heart lies.
The Nogistune Is Impersonating Stiles
The McCall Pack is a bit too easily fooled by the nogistune, but it can be chalked up to their desperation. Scott wants to believe that his Stiles is in control of himself, which affects his judgment. However, from the moment "Stiles" reunites with Scott, there are numerous red flags.
There isn't a believable reason for Stiles to magically regain control of his body, and he appears off from the beginning of the episode. But no matter how predictable the twist is, it's hard not to hope that Stiles really is back to himself.
Lydia Is A Genius
Because she's portrayed as shallow and surface-level, Lydia having Teen Wolf is unexpected. However, it's clear that she's going to develop in some way, even if viewers don't know to what extent.
There has to be more to Lydia than meets the eye, so the revelation that Lydia is hiding a part of herself is the jumping-off point fans are waiting for. Her intelligence is hinted at early on in the series, and it doesn't take long for fans to pick up on what others haven't. It marks the beginning of her internal journey, as Lydia slowly proves to be a multi-layered character.
Theo Betrays Scott
Scott is the only one who doesn't see this plot twist coming due to his trusting nature. Part of what makes Scott such a genuine character is his ability to look for the best in everyone and believe they have honorable intentions. However, this outlook has a tendency to make him naive.
Stiles is wary of Theo from the moment they meet, but Scott refuses to take him seriously. It's frustrating to watch Scott fall into Theo's trap when viewers know that Stiles' suspicions are correct. In fact, the real plot twist is when Scott believes a stranger over his best friend.
Allison's Father Is A Werewolf Hunter
Fans might not have predicted specifics during the pilot, but anyone who's seen a teen drama knows that Scott and Allison aren't going to have a typical relationship. Allison is clearly more than just the new girl at school and she needs to tie into the plot in more ways than one.
Chris Argent being a werewolf hunter creates a major obstacle for Scott and Allison to overcome. Most paranormal romances have the "forbidden love" trope and Teen Wolf dives in headfirst. The revelation might raise a few eyebrows, but it isn't at all shocking.
Scott Turns Liam
Turning another teenager has been in the cards for Scott ever since his own transformation. Although it remains unclear who the beta will be, it has always been an inevitability. By becoming a teacher to a new werewolf, Scott's story comes full circle.
He sees the bite as a curse during Teen Wolf Season 1 but eventually appreciates the person he's become because of it. Scott takes Liam under his wing and helps him realize that being a werewolf isn't the same as being a monster. This plot is necessary to showcase how well Scott has adapted to his new life.
Stiles Confesses His Love To Lydia
Stiles' confession of love is, arguably, the best Stydia scene in Teen Wolf history. Although it's an exhilarating moment for fans, it's been a long time coming. Stiles and Lydia both date different people during the series, but the narrative structure implies that they'll wind up together in the end.
The only real question is when and it's answered long before Season 6 Episode 1, "Memory Lost" even airs. The Teen Wolf Season 6 trailer spoils the pivotal line, as Stiles is seen telling Lydia " I love you."
Peter's Numerous Returns
Peter's complexity gives him endless potential and he could have made an interesting protagonist in Teen Wolf. It's difficult to imagine that the series would kill a character like Peter Hale off unless they're left with no other choice.
Neither the audience nor the McCall Pack is surprised when Peter continues to pop up, despite how many times he's been bested by Scott. Peter does whatever it takes to survive and just won't stay dead. He's a major annoyance to the other characters, but his sense of humor makes him beloved by viewers.
Stiles And Derek Return To Beacon Hills
Stiles and Derek may have surprised their friends, but viewers saw them coming from a mile away. Given the storyline that's set up in Season 6 Episode 11, "Said the Spider to the Fly," there's no way the show can end without their return to Beacon Hills.
Stiles' limited role in the final season is due to actor availability, but fans were confident Dylan O'Brien would find a way to his castmates for the series finale. Although the audience isn't surprised to see Stiles pull up in his jeep, there is a sense of relief.
