Temtem's Early Access version has finally debuted on console, with the massively multiplayer creature-collection title now available to play on PlayStation 5 for $39.99. The adventure first hit PC via Steam Early Access earlier this year in January. While Temtem's Early Access on console is exclusive to PS5, a full version of the game will come to Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms on an unspecified date in 2021.

At its core, Temtem breaths new life into the creature-collection genre. The multiplatform for it has sadly taken a hit in recent months, though. Notably, publisher Humble Games and developer Crema planned to release Temtem on PS4 and Xbox One. In August, however, Crema revealed it would have to drop of the PS4 and Xbox One versions. As the game grew in ambition, each iteration required its own separate patch. Consequently, more time was being devoted to "managing updates instead of developing" the core game.

Humble Games released a launch trailer for the PS5 Early Access version, reminding players that there is still plenty of fun to be had with Temtem on console. PS5 s can buy the title now for $39.99 to receive access to the story campaign, which takes place across six different islands. Of course, the online world features in the package as well, boasting a host of competitive and cooperative multiplayer options. In traveling the online space, players can expect to encounter Tamers, or other s, from around the world, all working to capture new Temtem. To become the ultimate Tamer, players will need to dismantle the power-hungry Clan Belsoto and defeat all eight of the title's Dojo Leaders.

The Pokémon-inspired, monster-collecting gameplay of Temtem seems like a great addition to the PS5's current line-up of games. Since its style of gameplay isn't exactly common, it should prove a breath of fresh air, too. Unfortunately, players on other consoles have a longer wait ahead. And information on when said wait will finally come to an end are vague at best for the time being.

Interestingly, Temtem isn't the only big multiplayer-centric title to hit PS5 ahead of Xbox Series X|S. While it's available via backward compatibility across each piece of recently release next-gen hardware, the next-gen upgrade for Digital Extremes' Warframe is out on PS5 exclusively at present. PS5 s also received free exclusive content to boot.
