Anakin about his marriage to Pé at the beginning of the Clone Wars.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ TV show has seen the Jedi Master confronted by his past. Forced out of hiding on a rescue mission for Leia, he was shaken to learn Anakin Skywalker was still alive - and in episode 3 he crossed blades with Darth Vader, discovering just how powerful his former apprentice had really become. In Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4, he infiltrated the Fortress Inquisitorius to rescue her - and discovered the true fates of his fellow Jedi. Their corpses had essentially become trophies for the Emperor, kept in a tomb beneath the Inquisitors' base. Even the Younglings were on display.
Most of the Jedi seen in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4 were new, never seen before - which makes sense, given there were around 10,000 existing Jedi prior to Order 66. But one was recognizable, a Jedi who appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Tera Sinube was a Jedi investigator who appeared in several episodes, and an ally of Ahsoka Tano.
Tera Sinube's Star Wars History: Jedi, Dooku & Clone Wars
The Jedi are drawn from countless different races, and Tera Sinube was a Cosian; a long-lived reptilian race, who spoke a trilling, chirping language that mixed with the birdsongs of their homeworld. He had already risen to the rink of Master by the peak of the High Republic Era, some 200 years before Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, when he served as Marshal on the planet Derra in the galaxy's Expansion Region. He dispatched Jedi to the nearby Cyclor Shipyards when they were attacked by a group of space pirates known as the Nihil.
Tera Sinube became a teacher at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, training Younglings alongside Master Yoda. He was the official leader of the Hawkbat clan, and even mentored Dooku for a time. Yoda chose Dooku as his Padawan, but Sinube selected his friend Zang Arraira. Sinube appears to have stayed on Coruscant, however, and a Jedi: Fallen Order tie-in comic has confirmed he became a member of the Jedi Council for a time.
Serving as a Jedi Investigator, Tera Sinube cultivated a close relationship with Coruscant Police - and became an invaluable resource to law enforcement, helping them with their investigations. He helped Padawan Ahsoka Tano retrieve her lightsaber during the Clone Wars when it was stolen and wound up on Coruscant's black market, and later volunteered his Astromech on an espionage mission. Tera Sinube is known to have continued training Younglings throughout the Clone Wars, meaning he was probably at the Temple when Palpatine called Order 66.
Where Tera Sinube Has Appeared In Star Wars Canon
Tera Sinube was introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, making his first appearance in the season 2 episode "Grievous Intrigue." He appeared in a number of episodes throughout the show's seven-season run, although rarely in a position of prominence. Since then, his historic role in the Jedi Order has been explored in Cavan Scott's novel The Rising Storm, and the audiobook Dooku: Jedi Lost. Artwork for the Tales of the Jedi animated series has also featured Tera Sinube, suggesting he'll have some sort of role in the animated shorts.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Reveals Tera Sinube's Corpse - When Did He Die?
Tera Sinube's corpse is identifiable among the trophies at Fortress Inquisitorius in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4, but there's no real indication how he died. Still, he was kept in a section that clearly displayed victims of Order 66, including a Jedi Youngling, so it's doubtful he numbered among Order 66's surviving Jedi. The most likely scenario is that he was killed defending the Temple, likely attempting to protect the Younglings. The appearance of this particular Star Wars: The Clone Wars character in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4 is therefore a carefully-chosen reminder of the atrocities conducted by the Empire, and their slaughter of the Jedi Younglings.
