Terrifier 3 reviews were generally positive, and the film has been a box office sensation, having grossed over $85 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing unrated movie ever.

Cineverse now reveals that Terrifier 3 will release on VOD on November 26, 2024. The film, which will be available on major VOD platforms like Apple TV, Google Play, Fandango at Home, and Prime Video, will be priced at the standard $24.99 to purchase and $19.99 to rent for 48 hours. Bonus features for the release include a "Making Of" featurette, as well as the "Eulogy Log," which is described as a "creepy twist on the traditional Yule log [...] featuring David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown."

The announcement also includes physical media release information, with Terrifier 3 set to arrive on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD on December 17, 2024. Four physical media editions will be available, including the standard DVD at $29.99, the Collector's Edition Blu-ray at $38.99, the Collector's Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray at $46.98, and the Collector's Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook at $49.98.

What Terrifier 3's Performance Means For The Franchise's Future

How Many More Movies There Will Be

Terrifier 3's budget is the largest of the franchise thus far, but it's still a very modest $2 million. At this budget level, the film may have been looking at a break-even point of $4 million to $5 million, meaning Leone's third installment has been a massive financial success. It is sure to only become more profitable when it launches on VOD. Terrifier 3's box office success doesn't mean, however, that the franchise will continue far into the future.

10 Biggest Theories About Terrifier 4's Story

Fans have already begun to theorize about how Damien Leone's gory but fun slasher saga will continue when Terrifier 4 inevitably hits theaters.

Leone recently revealed that he will be making Terrifier 4, but he also told DiscussingFilm in October that he "can’t imagine it going past two more movies." Terrifier 5, then, will seemingly serve as the end of the line for Art the Clown, at least this iteration. If the next two movies follow the same pattern as the previous three, they could both be made at higher budget levels, but it remains to be seen whether they will be able to top the most recent sequel's financial success.

Art the Clown previously appeared in All Hallows' Eve (2013) played by Mike Giannelli. Thornton took over the role starting with Terrifier (2016).

Our Take On Terrifier 3's Success

Leone Has Broken The Horror Mold

It's possible that Terrifier 4 and 5 won't be able to beat the success of the third movie. There will be a cap on the audience for this franchise, and the movies are guaranteed to not be everyone's cup of tea due to their extreme, graphic violence. That being said, Terrifier 3 has proven that any installment to come will probably still be a hit if it's made at around the same budget level.

Though Terrifier 3 and the franchise more generally won't be for everyone, the movies serve as an interesting example of how horror flicks can break out if they offer something new that audiences haven't seen before. Leone is working outside the traditional studio system with his Art the Clown movies, and it would be exciting to see other filmmakers follow in his footsteps.
