The Game Awards just announced the first details of the 10th annual celebration of the show to the excitement of gaming fans worldwide. Like last year's show, the 2023 event will be held in front of a live studio audience in the Peacock Theater. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards is the year's largest game awards show. On top of bestowing honors to the best titles 2023 has to offer, TGA is often the source of exclusive announcements for new games, as well as interviews with some of the biggest developers and creatives in the industry.

Last year, TGA had some massive reveals, including details on the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC, the Diablo 4 release date, as well as news about Kojima's follow-up to his iconic game series with Death Stranding 2. This year will hopefully be no different, with a plethora of amazing games on the horizon and currently under-development games that people aren't even aware of yet.

Streamed directly from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, The Game Awards 2023 will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023. While an exact start time for the event has yet to be announced, The Game Awards 2022 started at 4:30 pm PT, making it likely that 2023's show will occur sometime around then.

Last year, the event was able to attract a record-breaking 103 million global live streams, making it one of the largest livestream events of the year. In addition to a live audience, the event will also be streamed on an impressive amount of digital platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, TikTok Live, and Twitter. In total, there will be 30 different streams to watch during the event. A full overview of airtimes and streaming links can be found on The Game Awards' official website.

Like most years, The Game Awards 2023 will include new announcements on titles in the future, exclusive game premieres, and exclusive interviews with some of the biggest creative minds in the industry. Last year, The Game Awards 2022 ceremony was one of the most widely watched live streams in the world. While there's plenty to speculate on, including the potential for more news on highly-anticipated releases like GTA 6, not many details have been revealed about what titles will actually be nominated or presented during the show.

According to Geoff Keighley, "With so many beloved video game franchises exploring new mediums and developers creating new experiences across platforms, whether in games, television, movies, and beyond, the industry continues to expand in many surprising ways, and we can't wait to honor the year's best games and to show viewers around the world what's next."

Keighley could be hinting at an added emphasis this year on gaming media tie-ins, as the success of the recent Twisted Metal and The Last of Us shows display the potential of popular video game titles adapted in an episodic series format. The Game Awards Orchestra will be returning, adding a sense of gravitas to the show in 2023. As the event inches closer, more details will be revealed about exactly what viewers can expect from The Game Awards 2023. Tickets for the event are expected to be available for purchase later this fall.
