the Loki Easter Egg showing his ill-advised 'Thanos Copter' from the comics and a hilarious death over in What If...? With these gags welcomed by fans, it’s hard not to wonder why the MCU has yet to address his most ridiculous moment.

Despite the ever-expanding multiverse of stories being told in the MCU, the fact that it hasn't addressed the ridiculousness of Thanos' initial comic book appearance is a massive mistake. Due to a coloring error, his initial reveal was a bit more revealing than intended, with Thanos sporting a codpiece and ankle boots, but little in the way of pants.

iron man first meets thanos

This flamboyant design doesn't exactly gel with Thanos's intimidating presence in the MCU, but now that the movies have ed far beyond the Infinity War saga, it seems like the perfect opportunity to let him show off his thicc thighs and provide a deep cut gag for longtime fans.

Now That His Story Is Over, Thanos Is Fit for Mockery

Thanos In Infinity War And Endgame

When Thanos debuted in Iron Man #55 (by Jim Starlin and Mike Friedrich), Marvel made an unfortunate artistic error that was corrected in all subsequent appearances. His costume featured a strange design choice that caused both confusion and amusement over the years. The massive god-like villain was first introduced wearing what appeared to be a tunic and little else. Due to a coloring error, his pants were the same color as his skin, making it seem like he was boldly showcasing his limber lavender legs.

This error essentially turned the bottom of the Mad Titan’s outfit into bikini bottoms, leaving little else to the imagination. The design choice, whether intentional or not, created a bizarre look that found a spot in many fans' hearts, and yet it wasn’t addressed in the MCU. The Multiverse Saga certainly hasn't been shy about bringing Thanos back, meaning there have been a plethora of opportunities for his space speedo to make a cameo. References like this are what made Deadpool and Wolverine such a treat for fans, so bringing this look into movie canon could give the purple patriarch some much-needed charm.

The Multiverse Can Make It Happen

With the Multiverse Saga in full swing, there are endless possibilities for Thanos’ skin pants to make an appearance. The multiverse has already provided a wealth of opportunities to introduce different versions of Thanos, and one of these could easily reference his embarrassing debut. It would be the perfect moment for the MCU to poke fun at the character’s past, giving audiences a break from the usual tension and drama associated with the Mad Titan. The irony could add a fun layer to his character, which would be a refreshing reinvention for the retired villain.

Hopefully, the MCU will seize this opportunity soon, as it's exactly the kind of deep-cut comic acknowledgment that fans love. Eventually, Thanos will be too far in the past for continued cameo references to work, so here's hoping Marvel acts fast. Marvel can add a layer of levity to its multiversal adventures by making fun of Thanos' unfortunate first look.
