Warning! Spoilers for Thanos: Death Notes #1 by Marvel Comics

The Mad Titan is rising again in a brand-new one-shot from Marvel Comics, titled Thanos: Death Notes, that will take a deeper dive into one of the most terrifying versions of Thanos. In the solicit for the comic, the version of the supervillain wielding Mjolnir with Infinity Stones embedded in the hammer will be further explored, as Thor will explore Thanos' past, leading to new reveals and stories about the greatest villain in the Marvel Universe.

Thanos has had a tumultuous few years in the pages of Marvel Comics. After being seemingly killed after getting sucked into a black hole alongside the Black Order, he returned in the visions of Thor from the Black Winter, who showed him a future where the Mad Titan kills him with an Infinity Stone-powered Mjolnir. Thanos would officially return in the recently concluded Eternals series, briefly becoming the Prime Eternal before being outcast by his race again. Thanos made a surprise return again in the first issue of Genis-Vell, and now, he will be making an even more significant comeback in the Thanos: Death Notes one-shot.

Marvel Comics announced a new one-shot starring Thanos, titled Thanos: Death Notes, which is spinning directly out of the events of Donny Cates and Nic Klein's Thor arc. The series will follow up on Thor's vision of Thanos with an Infinity Stone-powered Mjolnir and undead army, as the God of Thunder will seek out answers about the vision the Black Winter once showed him. The oversized issue will feature multiple stories about Thanos' life, while teasing what's coming next for the Mad Titan now that he's returned.

The issue will feature a star-studded creative team including J. Michael Straczynski, Torunn Gronbekk, Kyle Starks, Chistopher Cantwell, Andrea Di Vito, Travel Foreman, and Ron Lim. The sypnospis for the Thanos: Death Notes #1 teases Thanos going missing following the events of the Eternals. Thor, seeing the dark future that is set to come with Thanos wielding Mjolnir and the Infinity Stones, seeks answers about his possible return, leading him to learn more about the Mad Titan's past and get a glimpse of the future. With Marvel Comics Editor Will Moss directly referring to a version of Thanos who wielded the Infinity Stone-encrusted Mjolnir from Thor's vision (plus a new black Infinity Stone) having a presence in the one-shot, things are about to get crazy in the Marvel Universe as the Mad Titan makes his triumphant return. Thanos: Death Notes #1 by Marvel Comics arrives in comic book stores and online retailers in November.
