Summary

  • Leia's rebellious actions on the roof may lead to a big decision about her future in Point Place.
  • Trouble brews between Leia and Jay after he lies about stealing Kitty's keys, hinting at a possible breakup.
  • Nate's grand gesture of trading his van for Nikki's guitar signifies their reunion, proving his faith in her talent.

That '90s Show part 3 ended on another cliffhanger, leaving the fate of Leia and her friends unknown until Netflix's next batch of episodes. Part 3 picked up halfway through the summer of 1996 when Red and Kitty returned to Point Place to discover a hole in their kitchen wall (where Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes' characters drove a car through it). While Leia was initially in some deep water, things quickly settled down. The basement-dwelling teenagers of That '90s Show went back to enjoying their time together before Leia's return to Chicago—but a big surprise changed everything.

Leia's mom, That '70s Show's Donna, came to Point Place to visit and announced that Eric Forman had temporarily moved to California to work a Star Wars-related dream job. It was ultimately decided that, in the meantime, Donna and Leia would move in with Red and Kitty, and Leia would attend school with her friends rather than in Chicago. However, Donna was concerned about the sort of things that teens get up to in Point Place (she knows, after all), and That '90s Show part 3's ending seemed to confirm her greatest fears.

Will Leia Officially Move To Point Place After That '90s Show Part 3's Ending?

Donna Might Have Changed Her Mind

Donna Red and Kitty in That '90s Show

Donna made it clear that if Leia wanted to stay in Point Place, she would need to keep her nose clean. However, this newest Forman teen quickly did the exact opposite. To celebrate the last day of summer, she and her friends snuck out in the middle of the night and had a small party on the high school roof. Naturally, Donna discovered the alien hidden under Leia's blankets and quickly hunted down her daughter. Just as the That '90s Show teens began enjoying some "circle time" on the roof, Donna, Red, and Kitty showed up. They were all busted, and Leia was in big trouble.

This isn't the first time in the That '70s Show franchise that the kids get caught with marijuana, and things typically didn't go well for them when it happened in the past. The end of That '90s Show part 3 makes it look like Donna will rescind her decision to let Leia move to Point Place. She might even decide that her daughter shouldn't stay for the summers anymore. However, it seems likely that Donna will calm down. After all, she is no stranger to teenage mischief, and she is sure to realize that, just like her and Eric, Leia is sure to turn out fine (even after years of Circle Time).

Jay Stealing Kitty’s Keys & His Fight With Leia Explained

Nate Lied To Leia & She May Not Forgive Him

Leia on the roof with Jay

Leia has more problems at the end of That '90s Show part 3 than just her mom's wrath. While the gang was planning their party on the roof, Jay mentioned that he could steal Kitty's keys to gain access. Leia shut this plan down, worried that doing such a thing would get her grandma fired from her job at the school. Jay initially agreed and then later said that he used his pocket knife to pick the lock to the roof. However, when Donna, Kitty, and Red showed up, the truth was ultimately revealed. Jay stole Kitty's keys and lied to Leia about it.

This may even be a big enough issue that Leia and Jay will break up in That '90s Show part 4—only time will tell.

Things had been smooth sailing between Jay and That '90s Show part 2 and part 3. While part 1 ended with Leia almost kissing Nate, she and Jay had gotten past this pretty quickly, and there were few obstacles in their relationship after this. They said I love you to one another, and they even took their relationship "to the next level." However, their fight over Jay putting Kitty's job on the line and lying about it is a much bigger deal. This may even be a big enough issue that Leia and Jay will break up in That '90s Show part 4—only time will tell.

Why Nate & Nikki Get Back Together In That '90s Show Part 3

Nate Chose The Perfect Grand Gesture

At the end of That '90s Show part 2, Nate realized he had made a horrible mistake breaking up with Nikki. He spent most of part 3 trying to get over her (hooking up with That '70s Show's Betsy Kelso) or get her back (fighting Nikki's boyfriend). However, it seemed for a time that Nate wouldn't make any headway. Nikki told him that she just wasn't in love with him anymore, and he seemed to accept this for a moment and move on. However, at the end of That '90s Show part 3, he made a genuine gesture of love and won Nikki over.

Nikki's parents were determined in That '90s Show to see their daughter succeed academically and professionally. So, worrying that she was focusing too much on music, they pawned her guitar. Nikki and Nate went to the pawn shop and tried to get it back, but Fenton (another That '70s Show character cameo) wouldn't give it up for less than $800. During the gang's roof party, Nate surprised Nikki with the news that he had traded his beloved van for the guitar, proving that he believed in her talents. Beyond the guitar, this was precisely what Nikki needed, so she and Nate finally got back together.

Nikki felt that her parents pawning the guitar proved they didn't believe in her musical talent. By giving up everything to get it back for her, Nate proved that he had faith in Nikki in a way no one else did.

Kitty & Donna's Disagreement Explained

Donna & Kitty Will Have To Find A Balance

That '90s Show Fix Kitty Sad Story

The kids of That '90s Show aren't the only ones having trouble. Kitty and Donna ended part 2 at odds as well since they both struggled regarding who had authority over Leia. Kitty had been primarily responsible for her granddaughter while she was in Point Place, and Donna suddenly being around resulted in a bit of struggle. This came to a head at the end of That '90s Show part 3 when Kitty saw Leia sneaking out with her friends but let her go, despite knowing that Donna would be angry. Now, That '90s Show part 4 will have to see the mother and daughter-in-law find a balance in their authority.

Kitty had been primarily responsible for her granddaughter while she was in Point Place, and Donna suddenly being around resulted in a bit of struggle.

What’s Going On With Ozzie & Gwen’s Relationships?

Ozzie & Gwen Both Have New(ish) Boyfriends

Ozzie and Gwen's stories have a lot less chaos this time around. In That '90s Show part 2, Gwen's boyfriend Cole took off for college, and it was unclear whether they would attempt a long-distance relationship. That '90s Show part 3 didn't provide any answers in this regard. Gwen wasn't seen with any other guys, but there was also no mention of Cole or any long-distance efforts.

Ozzie had some heartwarming steps forward in his romantic life, however. Back in part 2, his Canadian boyfriend broke his heart, and it took Ozzie a while to get over it. In part 3, he seems to have successfully put his woes behind him, and Ozzie has begun a new relationship with a boy he met at a wrestling convention. While this is great, there has been no mention of Ozzie's plan toThat '90s Show part 1. Perhaps part 4 is when this big moment will finally happen.

That '90s Show Part 3's Ending Changes The Sitcom's Formula Ahead Of Part 4

That '90s Show Part 4 Probably Won't Start A Summer Later Anymore

The ending of That '90s Show part 3 is a little different than the previous two parts. Part 1 established a formula in which Leia would return to Point Place every summer to stay with her grandparents but return to Chicago for the school year. Part 2 saw her summer 1996 visit and ended halfway through the summer, implying that part 3 would end with Leia returning to Chicago again. However, the end of That '90s Shows part 3 indicates that part 4 will go differently.

More than likely, That '90s Show part 4 will pick up right about where part 3 left off, so it can answer the big question of whether or not Leia is moving to Point Place. Additionally, the conflicts between characters like Leia and Jay and Kitty and Donna will be resolved sooner rather than later. This change is significant since it adjusted the timeline of That '90s Show. The sitcom is no longer limited to five seasons (one per year remaining in the 1990s). From part 3's ending forward, all bets are off.
