The Ark season 3 was announced back in March, the timetable for its production was unclear until now.

During an interview with ScreenRant to discuss The Librarians: The Next Chapter, another series he is a showrunner and executive producer of, Devlin confirmed The Ark season 3 filming window. As he explained, season 2 of The Librarians spinoff is midway through production, and The Ark will begin filming “in about four weeks.” Read Devlin’s comments below:

We are halfway through shooting season 2, which is incredible, and in about four weeks, we start shooting season 3 of The Ark. So, it's going to be a crazy year.

What This Means For The Ark Season 3

The Sci-Fi Drama Series Return Is Coming

The filming window for The Ark should be an encouraging sign, considering that season 3 was previously announced for 2026. Though a long wait, it may not be any more significant than season 2, which premiered on Syfy more than a year after season 1 concluded. As audiences prepare for what comes next, The Ark season 2 finale created several compelling storylines for Sharon and her crew, while establishing Trappist as a usable environment for humanity, particularly once Evelyn Maddox was terminated by Kelly.

Trappist originally brought trouble to Ark One, as season 2 revealed Evelyn was employing mind-control implants, which reached Sharon and nearly all of her crew. Once they regained full consciousness and freed the Trappist colonists, Sharon opted to locate more ships, instead of remaining on the planet. That decision will separate Ark One personnel for season 3, as James Brice and Alicia Nevins, among other characters, elected to her. Given how connected everyone on board Ark One has become, it will be interesting to see how they adjust as The Ark progresses.

More Mystery Lies Ahead For Sharon & Others

With filming scheduled to begin soon, there are questions season 3 will need to answer, including what happened to Ross 128 b. When trying to communicate during season 2, Sharon was surprisingly warned to stay away from Ross, leading audiences to suspect something bad or dangerous may be occurring. Then, Angus Medford unearthed a slate containing a foreign language, potentially signaling another existence. Given these details, and how Ark One is presently divided, The Ark season 3 can have characters involved in many different scenarios.
