Every Bachelor has been taller than the average – but that could be because the show tends to feature average-height women who then go on to wear towering high heels. They don't seem to want a female winner who ends up head and shoulders above her new fiancé, and even in The Bachelorette, the girls always pick really tall guys.

Matt Grant - 6'5"

Hailing from across the Pond, Matt Grant was the first British Bachelor, and also the tallest ever leading man on the show.

He stood an impressive 6’5” in height which also meant that he was well over a foot taller than the woman he proposed to at the end of the 12th season, Shayne Lamas.

Matt James - 6'5"

Bachelor Nation fans don’t have long to wait until season 25 of The Bachelor starts in January, and they can also look forward to another tall leading man in the shape of Matt James, who is the first black Bachelor.

Like his namesake, James is also 6’5” tall, but fans will have to wait if he picks someone around the same height.

Ben Higgins - 6'4"

Coming in just an inch shorter than the two Matts, Ben Higgins was the leading man on the 20th season of The Bachelor in 2016, in which he selected Lauren Bushnell as his winner.

Lauren is 5’7”, which is pretty tall for a female contestant, but she looked tiny next to her Bachelor.

Sean Lowe - 6'3"

If you judge the success of a dating show by how long the relationship lasts, then Sean Lowe is the most successful Bachelor ever, as he is still married to his leading lady, Catherine Giudici.

Their romance shows that height isn’t everything, as the 6’3” Sean is a foot taller than his wife.

Colton Underwood - 6'3"

Colton Underwood was a professional football player before his appearance on The Bachelor, and you don’t find many short men in the NFL!

When the 6’3” Colton appeared on season 23 of The Bachelor, he chose the 5’6” Cassie Rudolph as his winner, though there was no happy ending for the couple.

Travis Lane Stork - 6'3"

Another Bachelor star who came in at an impressive 6’3” was Nashville doctor Travis Lane Stork, who was looking for love in season 8 of the show, eventually selecting 5’7” teacher Sarah Stone as his Miss Right.

In a surprising twist, they had gone their separate ways by the time the season finale aired!

Charlie O'Connell - 6'3"

Charlie O’Connell had already appeared as an actor in a couple of TV shows and movies by the time he ed the cast of The Bachelor.

Older brother Jerry may have enjoyed more Hollywood success, but Charlie has a big advantage over his big bro; he is one inch taller than him at 6’3”.

Nick Viall - 6'2"

Nick Viall from The Bachelor

After failing to find love on two seasons of The Bachelorette, Nick Viall was chosen to be the leading man on the 21st season of The Bachelor in 2016.

6’2” Nick proposed to Canadian Vanessa Grimaldi in the final, who was almost a whole foot shorter than her TV beau.

Jesse Palmer - 6'2"

Another 6’2” Bachelor was Jesse Palmer, who also played in the NFL and who has gone on to enjoy a career in sports broadcasting.

He was the leading man in season 5 of The Bachelor in 2004, finally choosing Jessica Bowlin as his winner, though they split up after just a few months.

Byron Velvick - 6'2"

Being over 6 feet in height seems to be a necessity for Bachelor contestants, with several of the show’s leading men measuring 6’2” or more.

Byron Velvick was not only one of the tallest contestants, but also one of the oldest, and was 40-years-old when he appeared on the show in 2004.
