Matt Reeves' 2026's The Batman - Part II. Although The Batman's Gotham PD and Arkham Asylum spinoff shows were canceled in 2023, it seems like The Penguin won't be the only series taking place in this continuity.

In an interview with TheDirect, The Batman and The Penguin producer Dylan Clark mentioned that he and Matt Reeves have new ideas about Sofia Falcone's future after The Penguin, but that they "are all new ideas for her and have nothing to do with the other series that we're continuing to do." Clark's comments suggest that Matt Reeves' The Batman franchise won't be limited to three movies and The Penguin and instead will include at least another spinoff series.

The Batman Clearly Set Up A Catwoman Spinoff

The Batman's Ending Scene Sent Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman Off On Her Own

Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman is the ideal protagonist for The Batman's second spinoff, as The Batman's ending sequence set up Selina Kyle's own story. After defeating the Riddler, Catwoman tries to convince Batman to leave Gotham with her "upstate, Bludhaven maybe..." and tells him they can both "knock off some CEO hedge fund types." Batman refuses, and Catwoman drives away on her motorcycle. Before Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle reunite on the big screen, Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman could star in her own spinoff show set in Bludhaven.

The Penguin merch drops huge reveals about Matt Reeves' The Batman universe, possibly hinting at the plot of sequels in its continuity.

Bludhaven is a fictional DC Comics city located right next to Gotham. Notably, Nightwing fights crime in Bludhaven while Batman is busy in Gotham, as Bludhaven is also filled with evildoers. Yet, live-action DC movies and shows have always ignored Bludhaven's existence. A Catwoman spinoff show could break new ground with a female protagonist in an often overlooked DC location, especially if the main antagonist hasn't appeared in live-action yet.

DC Has Needed A Good Live-Action Catwoman Project For A Long Time

Catwoman Has Had Enough Potential For A Successful Solo Project Since The 1960s

Catwoman rose to mainstream prominence thanks to the 1960s Batman series soon after her 1940 comic book debut. Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman portrayal in Tim Burton's Batman Returns was unanimously praised, and Burton planned a Catwoman spinoff movie that eventually got canceled. However, Burton's Catwoman project evolved throughout the years, and it resulted in the 2004 Catwoman film starring Halle Berry, which is now one of the most unpopular superhero movies of all time. Now that all pieces are in place, a Catwoman show set in The Batman universe could do the character justice in live-action.
