The first trailer for The Bear season 3's finale, Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) faces financial issues as Uncle Jimmy learns he may be unable to continue funding his nephew's gourmet restaurant. Additionally, Carmy's sous chef and business partner, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), must decide whether to take an exciting new career opportunity or stick it out with Carmy.
The Bear season 4 trailer reveals that Carmy's Uncle Jimmy has given him limited time to improve the restaurant's revenue, or else he will be forced to close The Bear's doors. Sydney also appeared to have made her decision to stay on The Bear's staff, which is a big gamble considering its financial struggles. While these dilemmas and scenarios will fuel the main narrative at the start of The Bear season 4, it wouldn't truly be a season of The Bear without storylines about the real-life – particularly family – struggles of the various characters. In fact, the new trailer hints that one ing character will finally take the spotlight.
The Bear Season 4 Is Focusing More On Sweeps' Baseball History & Life Outside The Restaurant
Sweeps Once Played In The MLB's Minor Leagues Before Testing Positive For Steroid Use
In the new trailer for The Bear season 4, Gary "Sweeps" Woods, played by actor Corey Hendrix, is shown hitting a baseball in a batting cage. The Bear season 1 previously revealed that Sweeps had a history in minor league baseball and even tried out to play for the Chicago Cubs. While Sweeps played in the MLB's farm system for a time, he wasn't able to make ends meet financially and was homeless for a while.

Why Everyone Hates Pete So Much In The Bear
Everyone in The Bear seems to hate Sugar's husband Pete (except for Sugar herself), but why do the other characters seem to dislike him so much?
In The Bear season 1, episode 6, "Ceres", Sweeps commented on his baseball career. "Look, when I tried out for the Cubs, I was playing on the farm team, and they wouldn't put me up. And I was broke. And I got pretty good at figuring out places to stay." In the premiere episode of The Bear season 1, Sweeps explains to Fak how he got his nickname. "I swept St. Louis three times and had a no-hitter," indicating that he was a pitcher.
Since introducing Sweeps in season 1, The Bear hasn't done much with his character. The Bear season 3 briefly revealed why he stopped playing in the minor leagues, which was the result of accidental steroid use. Sweeps tells Ted Fak during The Bear season 3, episode 7, "I wanted to bulk up. The nutrition guy said that... He told me this s–t is healthy. It's not gonna show up as a steroid." When Sweeps was tested by the team, it was deemed that he had taken a banned substance. While some MLB players and prospects have come back from such a thing, Sweeps apparently was unable to.
Sweeps Deserves His Own Big Episode After 3 Seasons
He Is The Most Background Character Out Of Season 1's Main Cast
It's great that audiences will seemingly be learning more about Sweeps and his baseball career and ion in The Bear season 4. His character, in particular, has existed on the fringe of the series, out of the entire main cast introduced in the first season. The Bear season 4 appears to be giving Sweeps backstory and life outside the restaurant more focus after he has been a key background character since season 1. It's unclear, however, if he's getting his own episode like Richie, Carmy, Sydney, Tina, and Marcus have received, although he's deserving of one.
If The Bear season 4 wanted to do its own version of "Napkins" for Sweeps, it would make a lot of sense and would likely be another instant classic standout episode.
There appears to be much to dive into about Sweeps' character and past, especially all the exciting baseball stuff. While The Bear season 3 shed some light on how his baseball career ended, it didn't go into much detail, leaving plenty of unanswered questions that The Bear season 4 could dive into. If The Bear season 4 wanted to do its own version of "Napkins" for Sweeps, it would make a lot of sense and would likely be another instant classic standout episode.
