As the first season of the Disney+ series approaches its finale, theories about different characters, realities, and the various Egyptian deities have surfaced on Reddit from observant viewers.

Avatar of Taweret

Taweret in Moon Knight

After the ending of the fourth episode of the season, viewers are left to wonder about the appearance of the Egyptian goddess, Taweret. U/TheJayWay1412 suggests that fans may have already seen Taweret's avatar.

The states, "What if the little girl from the beginning of Episode 1 that Steven interacts with is the avatar of Taweret? She brings up if Steven was disappointed he was rejected from the Field of Reeds...". Since Marc/Steven was shot in the fourth episode, it is possible that he is very close to the afterlife, therefore, it is yet to be seen whether he will enter the Field of Reeds (afterlife) or not.

Split Souls

Steven and Marc in Moon Knight

Marvel fans were left with many questions about the final sequence in the fourth episode. After being shot, viewers see Marc, and later Steven, awaken in some sort of psychiatric facility, with references to objects previously seen in the series.

In this scene, Marc and Steven reunite in separate bodies. U/Beetlejuicent suggests that "there are 12 gates of the afterlife, this relates to Marc and Steven as the 2 (who once shared the same body) are split, and I think that they are in the 4th gate, the domain of Tawaret."

Scarlet Scarab

Speculation about the future of Moon Knight has also surfaced on Reddit. There have been discussions about how other Moon Knight comic book characters could play a larger role in the story, and possibly future appearances in the MCU.

Marc mentions in the series that he had a partner who "got greedy" and betrayed him. U/KostisPat257  brings up the possibility of the Scarlet Scarab character being introduced in the series. "He [Marc] also reveals to her that Bushman got greedy because he found an ancient artifact Abdul was looking for, the Red Scarab that grants people super-powers..."

Layla's Abilities

Moon Knight seems to be setting up a more in-depth backstory for Layla's character. Arthur reveals that Layla's father used to nickname her "his little scarab."

Similar to the previous theory, u/Darkshreaders3 has reposted a Screen Rant Tiktok that explains how it is possible that Layla could potentially be the future Scarlet Scarab since she seems to be an original MCU character derived from several Moon Knight comic book characters.

Arthur Is Anubis

In addition to Layla's character, Arthur Harrow, the main antagonist in the series and one of Moon Knight's most powerful villains, has been discussed as a potential reveal of several different individuals. Several have speculated that instead of serving as Ammit's avatar, Arthur is really Anubis.

One , u/PhantomSeeker250, states, "it's more than likely that Harrow has Anubis’ powers, which allow him to judge people and off them. Other small details [are] that Harrow summons jackals (Anubis' head is a jackal), and he has scales tattooed, which probably represents the scales of Anubis."

Alternate Mr. Knight

Several observant theorists have begun to look towards promotional posters as clues for what is to come in the Moon Knight series. Posters for the Moon Knight characters Marc, Steven, Moon Knight, and Mr. Knight have all been ed by Marvel.

The series seems to suggest that there is a third alter other than Marc or Steven, and a has a theory about this character involving the posters. U/dylanmagpili says, "I think the Mr. Knight with the non-glowing eyes is Jake Lockley. They used the glowy eyes for Mr. Knight on the other posters, but not for this one." Jake Lockley is the third alter for the main character, who has yet to be on-screen in the series.

Id, Ego, Superego

Moon Knight during the fight in Egypt

The Moon Knight series has done an excellent job of using symbolism as a part of its storytelling so far. In psychoanalytic theory, there are three agents of the mind: the id, the ego, and the superego.

U/twofacetoo suggests the protagonists three alters, Marc, Steven, and possibly Jake Lockley, each represent one of these psychic agents. Steven is the superego, or morality, as he is a "good guy who looks out for people." Marc is the ego, or reality, because he is "cynical, bitter, hardened by life but smart and strong enough to make difficult choices when necessary." And finally Jake is the id, or instincts.

Marc's Fate

Khnonshu in Moon Knight

As the series approaches the end of its first season, questions have arisen about how it will conclude. Viewers have already seen Marc express his desire to be separated from Khonshu, but fans are still left wondering how this relationship will end.

On Reddit, u/Cammit814 posits, "What if this show ends with ... [Marc] banishing him [Khonshu] to be stuck in limbo/something like that. Then we could have [Marc] with no powers, no magic suit. And he could build his own suit and still take on Khonshu’s mission without directly serving him."

Overvoid

Moon Knight Episode 4 Steven and Marc

The shocking conclusion to episode four left plenty of room for discussion about what the psychiatric facility could represent in the series and the mind of the main character.

U/lynxspoon suggests, "My theory is that they’re in a mental prison in the Overvoid, just like in the Lemire run. Marc and his alters can exist physically together and Ammit/Harrow are trying to break his mind." The Lemire run is in reference to a well-known Moon Knight comic book run.

Rebirth

Moon Knight Sarcophagus

Finally, the last scene in the fourth episode reveals the Egyptian goddess Tawaret. The discourse surrounding this character centers on the fact that they are the goddess of fertility and childbirth.

One viewer, suggests that since Khonshu was imprisoned, "Could she possibly tie in with the possible re-birth of the other gods and goddesses trapped in stone? Or maybe even the re-birth of Steven, Marc, and possibly Jake?"
