Although the Kevin Bacon horror-comedy show takes time to fully explore Pot O'Gold's purpose and what it wants Hub to achieve, it becomes evident that the corporation operates far beyond the world as most humans know it. As The Bondsman gradually reveals, many humans work under the devil in Pot O'Gold after they willingly sell their souls in exchange for something valuable. Although g up with the company instantly guarantees that the individual will eventually end up in hell after death, Pot O'Gold often targets humans in dire need of something. The organization leverages one's desperation to convince one to work for the devil. This comes with the hefty price of eternal damnation. However, for many, the desperation to escape their circumstances outweighs their fear of the afterlife.

The Bondsman season 1 does not feature the devil in the flesh but shows how many demons from hell have been escaping into the human realm. Since it is the devil's responsibility to keep the demons in the underworld, his employees in Pot O'Gold are expected to fulfill their respective roles and make provisions to ensure the human realm is free from demons. Despite not featuring the overarching satanic figure, The Bondsman establishes that Pot O'Gold's employees refer to him as "boss." This further highlights that the devil runs a full-fledged organization, where each worker is bound to the devil's will.

She Serves As A Recruiter For The Corporation

Midge's backstory in The Bondsman reveals that she was once an accomplished baker and was on the path to making a massive name for herself in the culinary world. However, her life took a grim turn when her newborn son, Benji, was diagnosed with cancer, and she struggled to afford his treatment. In a desperate effort to save him, she looked for means to earn more money online and even considered the option of selling her kidney. That is when she came across Pot O'Gold's ment, which enticed her with the promise of a life-changing deal.

Jolene Purdy, of The White Lotus and Orange is the New Black fame, plays Midge in The Bondsman.

As soon as Midge clicked on the ad, she was redirected to a form that automatically filled in her personal details. On the following day, a Pot O'Gold employee, Ali Khan, showed up at her door, revealing that she had agreed to work for the devil by g up for Pot O'Gold. He tells her that her job will be to collect souls for the devil by convincing people to sign up for the company. Khan adds that he gets a commission every time she collects a soul, suggesting the company almost functions like a pyramid marketing scheme.

Although Midge is initially apprehensive about committing to a satanic organization, she eventually signs up for her son's sake. With this, she not only ends up becoming a slave to the devil but also saves a place for herself in hell. Midge later reveals that she tried backing off from Pot O'Gold by not g up new souls. However, the moment she did that, her son's cancer returned, prompting her to work diligently for the company again.

In The Bondsman's opening arc, Kevin Bacon's character, Hub, is murdered by men hired by his ex-wife's new lover. However, he surprisingly returns from the dead, and his fatal wounds magically heal. He struggles to figure out what is happening to him until he crosses paths with Midge. Midge explains that he was sent to hell after his death. However, the devil gave him a second chance at living in the human realm by reviving him. In exchange for the favor, he must Pot O'Gold and work for the devil as a demon hunter.
