Starring Kevin Bacon, the series is a supernatural horror show about a deceased bounty hunter named Hub Halloran who is brought back from the dead only to discover that he now has to hunt for something far more sinister. Bacon plays Hub Halloran in front of a ing cast that includes Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, Damon Herriman, Jolene Purdy, and Maxwell Jenkins. All episodes of season 1 dropped on April 3 on Prime Video.

Speaking with The Los Angeles Times, The Bondsman EP Erik Oleson addresses the chances that The Bondsman will see seasons 2. Both Oleson and Bacon are vying for a second installment. The EP goes so far as to write a season 1 "ending that would make it difficult for Amazon not to give Kevin and me more chances to make more episodes." Check out the full quote from Oleson below:

The Show Is Getting Strong Reviews

Beyond writing intentional cliffhanger endings, Bacon and Oleson have a lot going for them when it comes to a potential The Bondsman season 2. The show boasts an impressive 83% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning the majority of critics had a favorable perception of the series. One of The Bondsman's positive reviews came from ScreenRant's Felipe Rangel, who gave the show 7 out of 10 stars, writing "The Bondsman is unapologetically campy, knowing exactly what tone it is going for and never backing down."

Rangel also noted that the first season "ends with an exciting hook" that could propel the story into a season 2. This is the "evil" that Oleson described, as the EP is baiting Amazon to renew the series. So far, audience reviews are generally favorable as well, with the show getting a 76% Popcornmeter. The series is currently the no. 2 overall on the Prime Video charts. All of this could help The Bondsman season 2 happen.

Oleson Was Taking A Risk

Oleson employed a risky tactic when approaching The Bondsman season 1 ending. While its final moments could give great momentum for renewal, the tantalizing tease could be frustrating if the show ends up getting cancelled. Many streamers cancel series after just one or two seasons, so the Bacon show's future is far from certain. If the risk pays off, however, Oleson may have crafted the perfect way to bridge the gap between seasons.
