Supe Ashley In The Boys Season 5 Is Hugely Exciting

This Is Her Biggest Character Change Yet

The Boys season 4, episode 8 features a massive twist, with Ashley Barrett turning herself into a supe. Although Ashley has been around since the beginning of The Boys, she has always been a non-supe, with her being a higher-up at Vought who is pushed around by Homelander. Ashley makes the surprising decision to take Compound V in the season 4 finale, something that is guaranteed to turn her into a supe.

Ashley is last seen mutating into a supe in The Boys season 4 finale, teasing that the supe version of the character will appear in The Boys season 5. It isn't yet known what Ashley's power will be, but regardless, this is the biggest change for the character that has happened in The Boys so far. Ashley's new supe status could either be a big help for her or a big problem, with Homelander undoubtedly having a problem with Ashley stealing Compound V out from under his nose.

Apart from walking through supe satire, action, and drama, Amazon's The Boys season 4 also features some memorable songs in some of its best scenes.

Why Ashley Turns Herself Into A Supe

She Knew It Was Her Only Choice

Ashley had the opportunity to turn herself into a supe throughout her entire time at Vought, meaning that season 4 had to come up with a good reason for her to finally make the leap. Due to Homelander constantly pushing her around, Ashley decided to get back at Homelander by pulling a small prank, one that accidentally got her wrapped up in A-Train's plan to leak information to The Boys. Ashley decided to help A-Train cover up this fact, but when Homelander found out that A-Train was the leak, Ashley knew that she was in trouble.

Having discovered that The Seven were out to kill her, as well as every other Vought employee who has dirt on the team, Ashley knew she had to take a drastic measure. She ran to Homelander's room and stole his Compound V, presumably hoping to get a power that would defend her from his wrath. If not that, it could also be that Ashley is hoping Homelander will have mercy on her purely for the fact that she is a supe, playing into his supe supremacist ideology.

This Power Would Be Perfect For Ashley In The Boys Season 5

She Should Be Another Marvel Parody

Ashley ( Colby Minifie ) holds A-Train ( Jessie T. Usher ) looking desperate in The Boys Season 4 episode 7

The question of what Ashley's power is after taking Compound V is one of the biggest mysteries left from The Boys season 4 finale, as it wasn't answered in the episode. While the episode doesn't give any hints as to what her power could be, the perfect power for her has to do with her hair. Throughout The Boys, there has been a running joke that working at Vought has caused Ashley's hair to fall out. She is wearing a wig throughout most of the show, and the season 4 finale sees this wig fall off as she is transforming.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has states that season 5 will be the last season of The Boys.

In order to pay this gag off, Ashley's superpower should give her the ability to manipulate her hair. The Boys should lift a page from the Marvel Comics Inhuman Medusa, with Ashley growing her prehensile hair in order to attack and defend herself. This is a power that hasn't been seen in the world of The Boys yet, and since it perfectly fits in with Ashley's previous story, it should be featured in The Boys season 5.
