Challenge vets Cara Maria Sorbello and Paulie Calafiore. This will be the first time in a while that Cara Maria hasn’t appeared on a season. The Challenge season 35 marks the introduction of seven rookies.
The theme of The Challenge 35 is “Total Madness,” and puts individuals against each other, instead of the team format that we saw on The Challenge 34: War of the World 2. That season pitted Team America against Team UK until one team became the victor. The Challenge season 35 continues the 90-minute episode format and brings back beloved host TJ Lavin.
Last week, People announced The Challenge Season 35 cast. It includes the typical vets that continue to dominate the game like Johnny Bananas, Wes Bergmann, Tori Deal, Ashley Mitchell, Dee Nguyen and Jordan Wiseley. With such a stacked set of vets, they might not have any concerns about the seven new rookies. However, this would be a huge mistake for the vets.
Four of the seven rookie players are past Survivor player. The CBS reality show family tends to stick together, because they typically hang with the same people and meet at various CBS reality show events and finales. If all the Big Brother rookies stay together, and team up with Josh Martinez and Jay Starrett, this could be a powerful 7-person alliance.
All the Big Brother rookies working together is very possible. Kaycee Clark, Chris “Swaggy C” Williams, Bayleigh Dayton and Faysal “Fessy” Shafaat all competed on Big Brother 20 together. Swaggy C and Bayleigh are a married couple, though at the time of filming, we aren’t sure if they informed MTV of this status. They might just appear on The Challenge as engaged, but they recently revealed that they have been married for a while, just not publicizing it. Their couple status means they’re an unbreakable duo.
Fessy and Swaggy C were very good friends in the Big Brother 20 house and game. However, they had a falling out when the show ended. It seems like they may have reconciled, but we’re not sure how their relationship was when The Challenge 35 filmed. It would be smart to put past tensions aside and work together for the sake of the money. Kaycee and Bayleigh were friends in the house and seem amicable since Big Brother ended. However, Kaycee had a bit of conflict with both Fessy and Swaggy C in the game. It should be interesting to see if these four can make an alliance work and try to keep each other safe. If they do, they could become the most dangerous rookies of The Challenge 35.
Kaycee, Fessy, Bayleigh and Swaggy C all performed pretty well at Big Brother competitions, and the houseguests and fans considered Kaycee a competition beast during Big Brother 20, which she won. Fessy also has a big stature that should help him win physical challenges, especially if he’s thrown into elimination challenges. We’re excited to see if these Big Brother rookies can cause some chaos and take the victory away from one of The Challenge vets.
The Challenge airs April 1 on MTV.
