Although rom-coms have dipped in popularity in recent years, the stars of the hit 1999 movie She's All That, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook, have been cast in a new rom-com for Fox Entertainment Studios. While neither actor is the kind of Hollywood superstar that could sell a movie all on their own, the fact that both of them will be starring in this film together makes it much more exciting than it would've been otherwise.

Neither of these actors has too many major projects, but they have plenty of previous work that shows how talented both of them are individually, and She's All That has already proved how well they work together. Prinze Jr. is set to star in the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel and was notably involved in Star Wars Rebels. Leigh Cook has starred in a few rom-coms recently, such as Love, Guaranteed for Netflix, keeping up her presence in the genre.

Freddie Prinze Jr. & Rachael Leigh Cook Are Reuniting For A Christmas Movie

The Pair Returns To The Rom-Com Genre Once Again

Prinze Jr. and Cook will be playing sportscasters in the new Christmas film called The Christmas Affair. Based on a report from best Christmas films out there.

Freddie Prinze Jr. Missed Out On the He's All That Reboot Movie

Prinze Jr., Unfortunately, Didn't Appear In The Netflix Remake

Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan in He's All That

In what may be surprising to some, there was actually a She's All That reboot called He's All That and was released on Netflix in 2021, featuring TikTok superstar Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan, who played Robby Keene in Cobra Kai. The movie followed essentially the same plot as the original, but there is a gender swap in the roles. Rae's character was the one to transform her unpopular male classmate, though the rest of the movie followed pretty much the exact same plot structure.

Even though the movie was pretty widely disliked, it would have been fun to see the original stars reunite for a scene or two, able to the torch to a new generation of younger actors.

This is notable because the movie did feature Leigh Cook as Rae's mom, bringing her back to the series that she started over 20 years prior. However, Prinze Jr. did not return, meaning that this perfect opportunity for a reunion was missed completely. Even though the movie was pretty widely disliked, it would have been fun to see the original stars reunite for a scene or two and be able to the torch to a new generation of younger actors.

The Christmas Affair Is The Perfect Follow-Up To She's All That

Their Rom-Com Reunion Is A Very Exciting Career Move For Both

After the missed reunion on He's All That, this new movie is a perfect replacement, and will definitely be even more exciting than seeing the pair reunite in He's All That would have been. They will be the stars of the show again, able to show off their great chemistry and give audiences of the original movie a new vehicle for Prinze Jr. and Leigh Cook to show off their talents. However, outside the reunion itself, The Christmas Affair definitely seems to be hitting similar plot beats to that of She's All That.

She's All That: 10 Ways It's A Classic

The '90s teen comedy She's All That features many classic elements of the genre, including a makeover, a bet, and a sweet love story.

Both movies have plots centered around two characters who don't necessarily feel much for each other at the start of the film but eventually fall in love as the film progresses, in whatever form that may take. While that is the plot of plenty of rom-coms already, the fact that this classic story is being repeated here is a good sign that the filmmakers are banking on the two main actors as the main draw, hopefully giving them plenty of time to shine, and making the She's All That reunion the central focus.
