The current year would have given the show enough time to properly wrap up all of its lingering storylines, including Bev's tragic dementia arc. Subsequently, however, they walk back on the idea, saying that they will continue to be on the air for as long as ABC and audiences want them. For context, The Conners is ABC's number one comedy, which shouldn't be surprising, since the Roseanne revival was an immediate hit. This is one reason why canceling it will be a difficult decision for the network.
