The release date for The Conners season 7 has been revealed. Audiences were first introduced to the titular dysfunctional family in 1988 in the sitcom Roseanne. It ran for nine seasons, concluding in 1997, before returning two decades later with a short-lived revival that would turn into The Conners spinoff with the remaining cast. Since then, with the titular Roseanne Conner killed off, Dan, Darlene, and Becky, and the rest of the clan have started anew and are preparing to say goodbye for what will likely be the last time.

Deadline confirms that The Conners season 7 will premiere on ABC on Wednesday, March 26 at 8 PM ET for a six-episode farewell event. Along with the announcement of the release date, Deadline shared a 30-second teaser teaser that looked back on the show's extensive history. ABC, which has been the home of Roseanne and The Conners for decades, shared a statement celebrating the sitcom's legacy:

“For over three decades, audiences have followed along with the Conners as they navigate the daily struggles of life in Lanford. Dan, Jackie, Darlene and Becky grapple with parenthood, marriage, financial pressures and aging in working-class America. Through it all—the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns—with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”

What The Conners Season 7 Means For The Show

The Characters Are In A Period Of Transition

The Conners season 7 will have a lot of threads to pick up on. The season 6 finale includes Mark getting accepted into the University of Chicago. That is thanks to Becky, who sent the application without him knowing. But as the finale progresses, Mark ends up hiding a more dangerous twist. He's working as an illegal hacker to help his financial situation, which the episodes could address.

Darlene, meanwhile, plans to quit her cafeteria job while also helping her daughter Harris with a new apartment. But not all things are so sunny for Darlene, as Becky decides that Tyler (played by guest star Sean Astin) should move in with Darlene and her. The dynamic between the three of them, and how Darlene reacts to Tyler being Becky's boyfriend, will likely get some spotlight in season 7. Dan, lastly, contemplates being more active in his retirement.

7 Unfinished Roseanne Storylines That The Conners Finale Needs To Revisit

The Conners season 7 has a lot of unfinished Roseanne storylines to wrap up, from Bev's fate to the question of DJ and David's roles on the show.

The spinoff, which is executive produced by Tom Werner, Sara Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen, and Tony Hernandez, has some key character arcs to tie up. But having been at the lead of the story for several years, Helford and Caplan know The Conners well and can fit a lot into a shorter episode count.

Our Take On The Conners Ending

It's A Moment Of Celebration

It's kind of remarkable to think that the Lanford family has been a part of four decades of television in one form or another. Perhaps, by debuting in March and running through April, when there is less broadcast TV to choose from, the sitcom will more space to take a victory lap and hit the benchmarks that audiences want to see in The Conners season 7.
