The trend of movie adaptations continued in 2024. While the year has seen numerous highs and lows, adaptations seem to be at the heart of the 2024 release calendar. While children's films such as Moana 2 and Inside Out 2 have dominated the box office, It Ends With Us and Wicked have also dominated. The abundance of adaptations over original content is often a criticism of the state of Hollywood right now, but the 2024 box office has shown that these films still do well commercially.
This year has also seen a number of comic book adaptations. Most notably, this includes Deadpool & Wolverine, a Marvel Comics adaptation that features the now-canonized titular MCU characters. Not all comic adaptations are created equally, however, as this year's Madame Web bombed at the box office and among critics. This summer also saw the release of a non-MCU comic book movie that took inspiration from an earlier cult classic.
The Crow (1994) Is Getting A Streaming Release Date
And It Is Very Soon
The original movie The Crow is getting a streaming release date. Adapting the comic book series created by James O'Barr, the 1994 version of The Crow tells the story of Eric Draven and his fiancé, who get brutally murdered on their wedding night. Eric later rises up from the dead to take vengeance on those who killed him and his love. This version of The Crow starred Brandon Lee in the lead role, among a ing cast that included Michael Wincott, Bai Ling, and Ernie Hudson. 2024 saw the release of a reimagining of The Crow, which was widely derided.
Per Collider, 1994's The Crow is now coming to streaming. The Crow will be arriving on Paramount+ on January 1, 2025. The film is currently only able to watch via Pluto TV and rent on Prime Video, so its Paramount+ availability will make it more readily accessible. The 2024 version of The Crow, on the other hand, is only available to rent on Prime Video.
