Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The Equalizer season 5, episode 18!The Equalizer season 5 marks the end CBS' reboot of the 1980's TV show of the same name, the show getting cancelled just days before its season finale. What has now become the show's de facto series finale sees Robyn (Queen Latifah) and Dante (Tory Kittles) targeted by Salazar (Juan Javier Cardenas). The episode ends with the main character agreeing to his marriage proposal, laying the groundwork for season 6.
Speaking with TV Insider prior to the series' cancellation, Wilson confirmed that, if The Equalizer season 6 happened, Robyn and Dante would have a wedding. He also confirmed that all the major characters in the series had been slated to return, although they could have had new roles in the team as the series headed in a new direction for the future. Check out what Wilson had to say about season 6 below:
That I hope we get it. [Laughs] I can say is if we do get it, there are wedding bells. We will see that wedding. It is going to be crazier than the proposal. It is feature worthy, what we would do with it. And just the continuing, what does their relationship look like equalizing as a family business as she says in this episode. So those are the things we’d focus on.
We’d have to see how it unfolds. Our plan is to set it up for the audience to not miss the family dynamic as it currently is. So they’ll be in different capacities, but with technology and travel, we don’t want to lose that core. That’s the core of the show, these three generations of black women and their relationship and the strength and . We don’t want to lose that. So if anything, we’ll dial it in even more so we can focus on that a little bit more. Even if you don’t see it every episode, you won’t miss it.
What Wilson's Statements Say About The Equalizer's Season 6 Plan
Lots Of Positive Changes Would Be Happening For The Team
Prior to its cancellation, CBS had big plans for the crime drama, with season 5 having a backdoor pilot episode for a potential spinoff starring Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz. Much like The Equalizer season 6, it was decided the proposed spinoff would not be produced, one of the first indicators the series may have been in jeopardy. This was later confirmed to be the case in early May, with the main series' quick cancellation. It also means the series has ended without a definitive finale, laying the groundwork for events that will never happen.

Vigilante crime dramas and modern reboots of classic shows will impress fans of The Equalizer TV show starring Queen Latifah.
Even so, Wilson's description offers a fairly happy take on what would have happened in season 6, especially with Robyn and Dante finally getting married. While he's not as descriptive about the fates of The Equalizer's other characters, it seems like everyone would be back on the team in an important capacity. With these ideas in mind, season 6 seemingly would have reinvented parts of the show while keeping the same tone and mood of previous episodes, offering a new chapter for its characters and stories in the process.
Our Take On The Equalizer Season 6's Plans
It Would Have Been An Intriguing Direction
Had The Equalizer continued into season 6, it would have been interesting to see Robyn and Dante finally get married, especially after working together for so many years. It also would have been neat to see other storylines get resolved too, such as Harry (Adam Goldberg) and Mel (Liza Lapira) questioning their roles on the team. Because of how interesting these stories could have been, it makes it incredibly disappointing that the series is ending without that fulfillment happening.
