What The Fall Guy Trailer Reveals About The New Ryan Gosling Action Movie

Ryan Gosling as Colt Seavers performing a stunt in The Fall Guy.

"I’m not the hero, I’m just the double," insists Colt at the beginning of his epic journey. This showcases the fact that he's the latest reluctant hero Gosling has brought to the screen. His new character seems caught somewhere between the gritty gravitas of his superspy character Six in Netflix's The Gray Man and the bumbling charm of his down-on-his-luck detective Holland March in the 2016 movie The Nice Guys.

Because of his character's fallibility, the movie is able to showcase the comic tone that Leitch has presented in many of his previous action films. However, while Colt is in over his head, that doesn't mean that he doesn't pull off some impressive stunts both on and off camera. In between his clumsy detective work, he does some impressive - in his own words - "Jason Bourne s--t."

Leitch, who is himself a former stunt performer, is no stranger to high-octane action. While his franchise movies, such as Deadpool 2 and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, tend to perform better at the box office than his non-franchise movies (Atomic Blonde and Bullet Train), he may just reverse that trend. The Fall Guy cast is led by a pair of well-matched A-listers. With the movie's IP connection and those stars, Leitch could have a legitimate hit on his hands if the movie lives up to the trailer's promise of action blockbuster thrills.
