The highly anticipated The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 has added a new star to its cast list. Based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale, since its Hulu adaptation in 2017, has been one of the most high-profile series on television. It has produced five successful seasons which featured talented mainstays like Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenle and Samira Wiley. The forthcoming season 6, which is expected to end the series, was confirmed shortly after season 5’s premiere and a few new faces are expected to the show’s cast list.

Now, shortly after it was confirmed that shooting had begun on The Handmaid's Tale season 6, Veep’s Timothy Simons is expected to the cast of the forthcoming season, according to Variety. Simons’ character in the new season of the show is currently being kept under wraps, but he’s expected to play a key role in the episodes.

Simons isn't the only new cast member for the season. The Veil star Josh Charles was recently announced to be ing the cast for the new season and Ever Carradine, who plays Naomi Putnam, has been promoted to series regular, and she's expected to play a prominent role in this final season.

It's unclear what roles Simons and Charles will be playing in the new episodes, though their previous roles could hint at their involvement. Charles is known for more serious roles and seems like he would be a good fit for a figure in Gilead, which the final season is expected to explore more thoroughly. Simons, on the other hand, is known for his comedic roles. While this doesn't mean he'll serve as comedic relief in The Handmaid's Tale season 6, it's possible he could be playing a figure on the good side of the Gilead conflict.

Our Take On Timothy Simons ing The Handmaid’s Tale Cast

Candy - Timothy Simons

While the role Simons will be playing in The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 is still currently unknown, the 46-year-old will be a great addition to the Emmy-winning show. Even though Simons made a name for himself in the comedy genre, appearing in series and movies like Veep and The Interview, he has proven he can equally deliver in dystopian shows after appearing in Patrick Summerville’s Station Eleven.
