Mark Wahlberg’s poorly-reviewed survival movie, The Happening received horrible reviews and contributed to Shyamalan’s ongoing fall from grace.
According to a report by Collider, the much-maligned movie will officially be coming to Hulu on October 1. The Happening was previously only available to purchase or rent. The timing comes as Shyamalan's Trap was released in theaters and has been performing moderately at the box office.
Mark Wahlberg called The Happening a "bad movie" in 2010.

Why You Should Watch The Happening On Hulu
It Best Captures The Essence Of A B-Movie.
Few movies are more entertaining than this thriller. With Elliot and his wife darting around the country searching for safety, they stumble across a large cast of bizarre and hilarious characters. They eventually come to discover that the root of the mysterious deaths is not a terrorist-driven biological weapon as they initially assumed. Without spoiling the twist, they instead uncover a horrible secret that gets to the core of Shyamalan's argument about human civilization.
Just like The Room eventually became a cult classic, Wahlberg's survival movie has endured and begs to be watched.
The cast was mocked for exaggerated performances, the production quality proved to be insufficient, and the eventual twist was downright laughable. Just like The Room eventually became a cult classic, Wahlberg's survival movie has endured and begs to be watched. It is difficult to forget Betty Buckley's absurd depiction of Mrs. Jones or Wahlberg's lack of reaction to much of the surrounding horror. While it would be painful to take seriously, an ironic viewing is genuinely entertaining.

Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie, Ranked Worst To Best
Director M. Night Shyamalan is known for his incredible filmography, from the critically panned After Earth to the acclaimed Unbreakable.
Shyamalan claims that he intended to create a fun B-movie, and that is exactly what he did. Every one of Shyamalan's movies plays on different themes and styles, and The Happening stands out as his depiction of a classic B-movie. Though it secured weak Rotten Tomatoes scores, it is worth watching just to see the progression of Shyamalan's work and the hilarity of Wahlberg's reactions.
What Screen Rant has said about The Happening:
The movie switches gears into being a more goofy sort of horror when the reality of what is happening becomes clear. It is a canny tonal choice for the filmmakers to accept that the bizarre nature of the twist makes this sillier tone necessary, and one that turns it from a able horror mystery into an uproarious satire (as evidenced by the killer elderly woman encountered near the climax). The Happening switches gear - intentionally or otherwise - from a straight-faced horror into a Mystery Science Theatre 3000-worthy effort, but the viewing experience is just as fun. Although the twist changes the movie’s appeal, it is still one worth watching, where a more frustrating or less inventive twist would simply have made it forgettable or bland.
