The Red Hulk has been taking up all the Hulk-based attention lately, but it's time to give another Hulk the spotlight for a change. After years of being on the page, becoming a fan favorite, transitioning through multiple physical forms, and being a part of many teams, Amadeus Cho is finally returning in an Anniversary Special, and it may just be the beginning of a new era for the young hero.
In May 2025's Amadeus Cho 20th Anniversary Special #1 by Greg Pak, Takeshi Miyazawa, Creees Lee, and Jethro Morales - with a main cover by Derrick Chew - Amadeus Cho is making a return to his three most notable eras: with Hercules and the Renegades, as the Totally Awesome Hulk, and as Brawn, which may lead to a fourth brand-new form.
The three stories from the three eras will include the eve of World War Hulk, a heartbreaking story about Amadeus and his sister Maddy Cho and a long-hidden secret, and a new threat emerging against Brawn, possibly bringing that fourth form out of Amadeus.

During World War Hulk, a group of Hulk allies - Amadeus Cho, Hercules, Angel, and Namora - banded together to evacuate the city, but eventually altered their goals to reason with the Hulk when Amadeus believed it was possible. Sometime later, the Hulk needed help when he was stuck with a new type of radiation. Amadeus used nanites and absorbed the Hulk's powers, becoming a Hulk himself, and vowing to be a better and smarter Hulk. Amadeus ed the Champions and eventually was able to merge his mind and his Hulk body and took on the name Brawn.
Amadeus Cho first appeared - before he became a new version of the Hulk - in the story "Mastermind Excello" from 2005's Amazing Fantasy #15 by Greg Pak, Takeshi Miyazawa, Christina Strain, and Dave Lanphear, which is available now both digitally and in collected editions from Marvel Comics.
For a long time, Amadeus Cho was an ally of Bruce Banner's Hulk, but he is arguably most recognizable nowadays for his Totally Awesome Hulk persona. Amadeus has gone through a lot of changes throughout his twenty years of existence, but Marvel is now teasing that he may be taking on another form very soon. The announcement for the 20th anniversary special includes the synopsis of the story during Amadeus' Brawn era, and it's hard to deny that something new is coming: "And finally, Amadeus in his Brawn era tackles a shocking new threat – and emerges in a whole new form?"

Following the MCU's Push, Marvel Is Planning a Special Comeback For the Hulk
Marvel is celebrating the 20th anniversary of boy genius character Amadeus Cho, with a one-shot special this May.
Amadeus Cho recently made an Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on Disney+, and coincidentally, gamma, the same radiation that created the Hulk, was introduced on the show. With Amadeus having a place in Oscorp in season two, and Oscorp taking possession of Doctor Octopus' gamma weapons, his inclusion was not random. Amadeus' new fourth form may appear in the show as it is introduced in the comics, providing the perfect opportunity for fans of the show to jump into the Hulk's comics.
Amadeus Cho 20th Anniversary Special #1 is available May 7th, 2025 from Marvel Comics.
