When the Hulk is raging it's almost always best to leave him alone. When Bruce Banner changes into the big green monster, it's nearly impossible to calm him down. Once, Starfox tried to manipulate the Hulk's emotions to stop his anger and failed miserably.
Starfox is an interesting Marvel character. Born as Eros of Titan, the brother of Thanos, Starfox is an Eternal with a wealth of powers. He's got super strength, durability, and flight powers among his many abilities. His most famous power is his ability to psychically control the emotions of others. The power has gotten him in major trouble on multiple occasions - including when he tried to calm down the Hulk by offering him... pleasure.
In Hulk #300, an out of control Hulk is causing destruction after being made savage by Nightmare. Multiple Marvel heroes try to calm him down, but the Hulk's rage is at full capacity, as he takes down billboards and water towers, throwing the latter at a S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft. The Human Torch, Iron Fist, and Power Man try to take the Hulk down but fail. The Avengers arrive at the scene and Starfox, who was briefly a member of the team, tries to use his emotional manipulation to stop him.
Starfox tried to send Hulk overwhelming pleasure. It's not a horrible idea - but it's very unusual. Getting the Hulk aroused could have hypothetically stopped his rage. But in this case, being overcome "by ecstasy" doesn't work in Starfox's favor. The Hulk isn't overcome by Starfox manipulating his pheromones, instead, his anger just becomes worse and he wallops Starfox with a devastating punch.
Starfox was extremely lucky he was an Eternal, otherwise, the Hulk's punch would have killed him instantly. That's what he gets for trying to inject pleasure into someone who just wants to rage. You have to give it to Starfox for his amazing ability to be a creep, even when trying to stop the Hulk. No wonder he's one of the worst Avengers, at least according to Hawkeye.
Multiple Avengers tried to take down the Hulk following Starfox's failure. Captain Marvel, the Vision, and the Thor all try to put him down with no luck. It takes Doctor Strange exiling the Hulk to a different dimension that ultimately ends his destruction. Pain or pleasure won't take down the Hulk - Starfox found out the hard way.
