While NBC's The Hunting Party didn't fare very well with critics during its premiere, the series has picked up a sizable fan following regardless. As the drama continued each Monday, it started to pick up some momentum in of character build-up, intriguing villains, and twists and turns in the primary story. The Hunting Party focuses on Rebecca "Bex" Henderson, an FBI special agent and criminal profiler who is ordered to work with various agents in order to track down every perpetrator who escaped a secret prison called "The Pit."
While The Hunting Party season 2, it's worth wondering what shows could fill the void left by its hiatus.
5 Criminal Minds
This Show Has A Top-Notch FBI Team
Reminiscent of The Hunting Party, Criminal Minds follows a group of FBI criminal profilers who investigate a different crime and perpetrator per episode. Each member of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) has his or her own area of expertise. For instance, there's geographic profiler Spencer Reid, obsessional crimes expert Derek Morgan, and expert fugitive tracker Luke Alvez. Apart from the police procedural aspects of the show, the personal conflicts of these agents are also explored, like The Hunting Party's prison officer Shane Florence and his bond with his "father."

After The Hunting Party's Finale, These 5 Questions Should Convince NBC To Renew It For Season 2
The Hunting Party season 1 has concluded, but several mysteries remain to be explored and should be revisited if the show returns for season 2.
FBI Supervisory Special Agent Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner is one of the most experienced agents in the BAU who has taken on serial killers and vicious criminals. Hotch struggles at times to balance his work and family life, leading to his wife divorcing him in season 3. Reid, the youngest member of the BAU, is also arguably the most intelligent, with an IQ of 187 and his various degrees, including psychology and sociology. But Reid has his own challenges, such as caring for his mother with schizophrenia and facing a serial killer stalker in season 11.
4 The Blacklist
An FBI Team And A Criminal Mastermind Combine Forces
Like The Hunting Party, a female protagonist, Elizabeth Keen, leads the way as an FBI agent and profiler who works with a special FBI task force to find various criminal masterminds on the blacklist of another master criminal, Raymond Reddington. Keen also learns more about Reddington, her connection to him, and why he chose her and the task force to work with him. Keen and Bex from The Hunting Party are very much alike because they are outsiders who have to get used to working with new teammates, searching for dangerous killers, and understanding their roles in their respective stories.

Keen goes on to develop a powerful and problematic working relationship with Reddington, which includes Keen going beyond the law and also falling in love with fellow agent Donald Ressler. Agent Bex, in all likelihood, won't be taking extreme measures like Keen in The Hunting Party, but since Bex and her team have been taken off the assignment of pursuing criminals who escaped "The Pit," Bex has Keen's persistence and will not stop pursuing dangerous killers. Bex may also have a love story with Agent Hassani if season 2 happens.
3 Profiler
This FBI Team Has A Forensic Psychologist As Their Secret Weapon
Profiler follows Dr. Samantha "Sam" Waters, a forensic psychologist who works with the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF). Waters uses her talents to capture and understand the insights of murderers and serial killers. Waters isn't necessarily a fighter compared to Bex or Keen, but she shares their expertise in analyzing and anticipating a killer's next steps and motivations. Apart from Sam's work with the VCTF, she is determined to track down the killer Jack Of All Trades, who murdered her husband years ago.
Profiler works as both a police procedural and a personal revenge story, which is where The Hunting Party may lean towards if there is to be a season 2. After Bex seemingly loses Odell after he's poisoned, along with Hassani in the hospital after being shot, Bex will be more motivated to track down "The Pit" inmates and lead the investigation over who caused the explosion in the mysterious prison. Profiler was also one of the first dramas involving forensics before the CSI shows, and had crossover episodes with another NBC show, The Pretender.
2 The Pretender
A Show About A Man Who Investigates His Own Way
The Pretender is about a master impersonator, Jarod, who has the skill to become anyone (a doctor, lawyer, soldier) in order to help others in peril and take down evil culprits. Along the way, a trio of agents who knew and mentored Jarod followed his every move in order to track him down since he escaped from their custody. Although Jarod is considered an outlaw who is on the run from people who know him best, he is an intelligent man who operates as a private investigator or spy with the ability to infiltrate any location.

Star Melissa Roxburgh chats with ScreenRant about the final moments of The Hunting Party season 1 episode 10 and what to expect in a hopeful season 2.
Aside from Jarod's story, the agents chasing him are part of The Centre, a mysterious organization (similar to "The Pit" from The Hunting Party) that held Jarod captive and exploited his "Pretender" abilities. Miss Catherine Parker is a skillful investigator and the daughter of someone from The Centre who's searching for Jarod. There's also Centre psychologist Sydney, who raised Jarod, and computer expert Broots. The agents are always a step behind Jarod, but the more they chase him, the more they understand the dark secrets he uncovers about The Centre.
1 Watson
A New Spin On Familiar Sherlock Holmes Characters
While Watson involves doctors, they also work as detectives who try to understand their patients with complex situations, including paralysis and memory consolidation. Meanwhile, Dr. John Watson also faces off against Moriarty, who is responsible for the apparent death of Watson's partner, Sherlock Holmes. Watson is a combination of a medical drama and a detective procedural while modernizing the Sherlock Holmes characters. It's also intriguing to see Watson front-and-center in his own series as opposed to Sherlock, who's usually the main attraction.
Reminiscent of The Hunting Party, Watson is a new show that initially appears like a standard procedural with a different case per episode. However, each series has a central plot that keeps the show afloat with twists and suspense.

However, each series has a central plot that keeps the show afloat with twists and suspense. While The Hunting Party's future is up in the air, Watson will return for a second season thanks to strong ratings and a commanding performance from Morris Chestnut as Watson, who has tremendous doctoral expertise and s his patients while also recovering from his own brain injury.
