The Last of Us season 1 was such a success that one of the biggest concerns for the season is that it won't be able to live up to its predecessor. While The Last of Us season 2's video game accuracy doesn't seem like a very big deal, it's quite important to the story. So much of what The Last of Us Part II tries to say - its messages about grief, revenge, moving on and more - are defined by precise events and small moments between those events. The exact circumstances of Joel's death, for example, are critical to Ellie viewing Abby as a villain. Changing them even a little bit would change the games' message, so it's a great sign that The Last of Us season 2 is being so faithful.
