In an interview with ScreenRant for Leverage: Redemption season 3, The Librarians: The Next Chapter showrunner Dean Devlin reveals the release window for season 2. While he could not reveal an exact production date, he said that "they're about to make an announcement" and notes that he will "be very busy this summer between Leverage and Librarians." Devlin: They're about to make an announcement, and it's going to be soon, and I will be very busy this summer between Leverage and Librarians. But again, the joy I had getting to bring back Leverage is amplified by getting to be back in the universe of The Librarians.

Devlin: You know, he's like my — not to compare myself to Scorsese, but what Scorsese's relationship to DeNiro is, that's clearly my relationship with Christian. I've done five series with him at this point, so we've become quite a team.

Kane's Role Is Particularly Exciting

As Devlin alludes to, Kane's appearance in The Next Chapter is particularly exciting for franchise fans as he was one of the stars of the original The Librarians show. He played Jacob Stone, a former oil rig worker turned Librarian. Kane has previously revealed that he will appear "every once in a while" in the reboot series, helping the new characters along their journeys. Based on Devlin's more recent statement, it is clear that the showrunner has a good working relationship with Kane, building even more anticipation for this return.
