cast of The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 was expanded right from the start with the introduction of Eddie Rojas, a young man falsely accused of a carjacking. After he's proven innocent, Mickey ends up hiring him as his driver, making him the newest member of the titular lawyer's team. He drives the protagonist around as he investigates Gloria Dayton's murder and tries helping her friend, Julian, who was framed for the crime.

However, Eddie sadly dies in an attack against Mickey when his car is run off the road. Much of the protagonist's motivation as the story continues is getting justice for his fallen friend. The truth of the conspiracy surrounding Gloria and Eddie's murders is ultimately revealed, also exonerating Julian. However, The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, one that avoids one big change to the core team.

Mickey Being In Jail Means There Likely Won't Be A New Driver In The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4

Mickey's Probably Not Getting In A Lincoln Anytime Soon

Since Mickey's been framed for Sam's murder, he's undoubtedly getting arrested and imprisoned into the foreseeable future. This leaves the rest of the team as his only hope as they try and prove his innocence. While he'll be able to help Lorna take charge of the case, especially now that she's ed the California Bar Exam, he'll be doing so from behind bars. However, Mickey's story in The Lincoln Lawyer also means that, while he'll likely be helping with his own case, he won't be getting driven around as usual.

This means season 4 won't be introducing a new driver for Mickey, as it will be unnecessary for the team to hire someone else. It also means the episodes won't feature a replacement for Eddie, whose memory as the protagonist's most recent driver will continue. It's a move that not only changes the dynamic of how the season is going to be presenting itself, but also confirms how Eddie's presence in the show can't be replaced so easily. This is especially true because of just how beloved he was by the team.

A New Driver Would Have A Tough Task Replacing Eddie After The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3

Eddie Became A Core Member Of The Team Very Quickly

It didn't take long for Eddie to find his place with the rest of Mickey's team, becoming both a resourceful driver and a good friend. His most defining character trait, aside from having a ion for physical health, was his innocence. This made him a meaningful friend for Mickey, who saw him as someone he could both teach and rely on during the early days of season 3's investigation. It's also what makes his death so tragic, as he ended up caught in the crossfire of the lawyer's feud with more powerful forces at play.

Had a new driver been introduced to The Lincoln Lawyer season 4's cast, it would have been difficult for them to replace Eddie so soon. He made such an important impression on both the team and the series as a whole that any new character stepping into his shoes would have a hard time being as memorable so early. Giving the show a full season between Eddie's death and a potential new driver offers a chance for the team to recover, even though fighting for Mickey's freedom will still be a difficult battle to be won.

Although, if The Lincoln Lawyer does get renewed beyond season 4, then a driver replacing Eddie is going to be inevitable. However, the series has a full season before that happens, not only giving ample time for the characters and the audience to mourn, but also time to decide how such a beloved character will be replaced. For now, though, his memory as Mickey's latest driver will live on while the main character is imprisoned, and as his friends try and prove his innocence.
