Wang is known for his work in American Born Chinese and his casting in the Karate Kid. In addition to these new and established cast , The Long Walk also has a director, who will be found in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes helmer Francis Lawrence.

The Long Walk is not the only film to adapt one of King's earlier books. Edgar Wright is also working on an adaptation of The Running Man, which will star Glen Powell in the lead role that was previously played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 version.
