Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though Pedro Pascal will be showing his face in The Mandalorian season 3. Despite playing the titular protagonist, Pascal has rarely shown his face in the Star Wars show due to Din Djarin rarely removing his helmet in accordance with his clan's creed known as the Way of the Mandalore. Now, The Mandalorian has made a new unmasking even more unlikely.
In the past, Din Djarin has only broken his oath three times - once in front of a droid, another time to rescue Grogu, and on a third occasion to allow his ward to see his face. Not only were these three scenes incredibly significant, they were also the only ones in which Pascal's face was seen on-screen. The rest of the time, Pascal either wore the full Mandalorian suit or wasn't even on set, with his dialogue recorded in post and stunt doubles wearing the armor. Now, The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3 confirms Din Djarin has successfully bathed in the Living Waters of Mandalore, the only way in which he could redeem himself for his past transgressions, and it's quite possible his face won't be seen again.
Din Djarin Has Reed The Children Of The Watch
Returning to the Children of the Watch and bringing Bo-Katan with him as his guest, Djarin proves his cleansing by presenting the Living Waters he collected to his clan's Armorer (Emily Swallow). Confirming their validity, the Armorer officially declares Djarin redeemed, a member of the Watch once more. So long as Djarin doesn't remove his helmet in front of others, he will remain a member of the clan who rescued and raised him as a child. As such, it's extremely unlikely that Djarin will give up his new redemption anytime soon, meaning Pedro's face probably won't be seen for the rest of the season.
It's also worth noting that Bo-Katan Kryze is now considered a member of the Children of the Watch too. Having dived into the Living Waters to save Djarin who was pulled into the pool's depths in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2, Bo-Katan also became cleansed in the eyes of Djarin's clan, inadvertently becoming a member of their ranks until she decides to remove her helmet. This brings Bo-Katan's story full circle as she was once part of the Children of the Watch's predecessor during the Clone Wars (The Death Watch). Regardless, it means viewers might not see Katee Sackhoff's face for the rest of the season either.
Will The Children Of The Watch Change Their Vow?
Djarin has rededicated himself to the Children of the Watch, and Bo-Katan has been accepted among their number, but it's still possible their faces could be seen. In Bo-Katan's case, it could be as simple as taking off her helmet due to a lack of interest in ing the clan (though seeing a living Mythosaur may have changed her beliefs). However, it stands to reason that the only way Djarin would now remove his helmet would be if he finally uses the Darksaber and claims the right to rule, an act that could then motivate him to change the Watch's vows against helmet removal.
While there has been marketing material for The Mandalorian season 3 of Din Djarin unmasked, it's unknown if those are narrative teases for events still to come or if there was simply a desire to show off the man behind the helmet. Either way, it seems clear that something drastic will need to happen in the new season if viewers are hoping to see Pedro Pascal's face make a new appearance in The Mandalorian season 3. Tragically, viewers may just have to settle with hearing Pascal's voice going forward.
