New teaser trailers give a closer look at Ralph Fiennes as a sinister chef in the comedy horror Fiennes as the ominous Chef Slowik. Grim-faced and blunt, the first teaser gives a glimpse at some of the film’s dark humour as Slowik remarks on the acting ability of one of his guests. “The memory of your face in that film haunts me,” he says, to the obvious shock of Leguizamo’s character. Focusing on Tyler in the second teaser, the visibly emotional foodie gushes about how Slowik “plays with the raw material of life itself and death itself.” Check out the videos below:
What To Expect From The Menu
Best known for his portrayal of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise, Fiennes’ depiction of Chef Slowik has so far garnered considerable praise from critics. Described as an unconventional bad guy, Fiennes has previously indicated that his character possesses an underlying sense of self-loathing as he obsesses over a perfection that continues to allude him. The film draws inspiration from the likes of Gosford Park and Succession’s “Tern Haven” episode, focusing on a tense dinner service and the individual relationships between characters at different tables. With the dynamic between Slowik and Margot playing a particularly important role, Fiennes suggested that the latter would present something of an anomaly to Slowik, challenging his relationship with the culinary arts.
Scheduled for release in November, reviews currently suggest that audiences will be thoroughly entertained by Mylod’s satirical horror film. Backed by a star-studded ensemble known for powerful performances across a range of genres, The Menu has the potential to become one of this fall’s most satisfying titles. While the exact nature of the horrors hiding inside the exclusive Hawthorne restaurant remains a mystery, the latest teasers certainly promise a hefty dose of dark humor.
