While traits make up a character's personality, quirks are the thing about a character that makes them different from everyone else. The Office has so many wonderful characters that are set apart by their personalities and special quirks, which make them entertaining characters but also realistic people that could actually be found working in an office.
However, while some good quirks would be extremely helpful in an office environment, helping to make the office a more creative place, there are some quirks that are so bad that they could sink the ship just as quickly. Luckily, with an array of characters, all these quirks help to balance each other out, which helps to ground them all in reality.
Michael Scott
Best Quirk: Bringing People Together
Despite everyone saying otherwise, Michael is the one character that is able to bring everyone together. Whether it is hosting dinner parties, organizing birthday surprises, or hosting fundraisers, Michael somehow gets the other office workers to come to his events and have a great time. They may disagree not always agree with his ideas, but they would certainly agree that it was Michael's actions that helped them to become a family of sorts.
Worst Quirk: No Self-Awareness
Although some moments on The Office reveal Michael to be a surprisingly mature character, Michael is often unaware of his brash, insensitive, and offensive attitude. He sees his manager position as the head of a family rather than a company, which often gets him into trouble and makes his employees disrespect him.
Pam Beesley
Best Quirk: Artist
Pam is the most creative character in The Office. She put together an art exhibition, created an animation for Michael's TV ad, and was asked by Ryan to design the logo for Dunder Mifflin Infinity. Fans would certainly agree that Pam's art sets her apart from the other characters, even if others look down on her talents and don't see her as the star she truly is.
Worst Quirk: Easily Discouraged
Sadly, one of the worst things about Pam is that she consistently backs down from challenges and refuses to step out of her comfort zone. While she does start taking more risks once she starts dating Jim, such as when she went to Art school or ed Michael's paper company, she would often end up having doubts or quitting when it started to get a little challenging. It's possible that her discouragement may be a result of the other office workers and her loved ones criticizing her talents and dreams.
Jim Halpert
Best Quirk: Loving
Jim's love for Pam makes them one of the most relatable couples on The Office, and he often shows it by pulling pranks with her and ing her to go after her ions. Although Pam sometimes questions Jim's love for her, especially in later seasons, Jim always reminds her that she is everything to him, which is one of the many things fans love about him.
Worst Quirk: Apathetic
In the earlier seasons of the show, Jim cycles through the same lifestyle every day. He shows no desire to get out of his comfort zone, but when he does come out of his shell, it creates some incredible moments.
Dwight Schrute
Best Quirk: Protective
Dwight refuses to be called a hero, but constantly saves his coworkers from various threats, such as pepper spraying Roy when he attacked Jim. In his own words, Dwight sees his coworkers as "deserving of protection" and he is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure their safety - even if it means putting them through dangerous situations to teach them a lesson.
Worst Quirk: Vengeful
Dwight shunned Andy and was planning on shunning him for three years until he got bored of it, and disliked Nelly after he lost respect for her in Florida. Dwight has also shown that he can be quite ruthless when it comes to business, such as sabotaging the Michael Scott Paper Company. While he loves Dunder Mifflin like his own family, there are moments where he proves he will do whatever it takes to get ahead in his career.
Andy Bernard
Best Quirk: Showman
Andy, Kevin, Darryl, and of course guitar player Creed are the most musical characters in The Office, but Andy goes all-in on his performances, bringing the cast of the Sweeney Todd stage play into the office, and singing a heartfelt farewell song when he is fired. Anything that involves Andy playing a musical instrument is worthwhile for fans as it often provides some great comedy relief from the highly intense moments.
Worst Quirk: Anger Management
While Andy is certainly one of the kindest people in The Office, he does have his flaws (one of them being his temper). When things aren't going his way, fans often see a childish side come out of the Cornell graduate, which often leads to him having a tantrum. Whether it's punching holes in the walls or throwing food, viewers found it hard to root for him when he did this as he didn't seem to accept that he was overstepping a line each and every time.
Erin Hannon
Best Quirk: Innocence
Erin's innocence results in some truly sweet moments on The Office, such as meeting her birth parents in the finale or kissing Andy at the garbage dump. She also had an innocent but optimistic perspective on Scott's Tots, cheering Michael up in the car on the way home. If fans could be friends with anyone in the show, it's likely Erin would get the most votes as her cheery personality always draws people to her.
Worst Quirk: Naivety
Things go over Erin's head a lot, which makes her rather annoying to deal with, such as not understanding Andy's request for an 'adult' Halloween party, and questioning Pam about what she meant when someone defaced Pam's mural. Erin also has little experience with the world which makes her vulnerable, although her innocence sometimes saves her from potentially dangerous situations.
Angela Martin
Best Quirk: Outspokeness
Angela speaks her mind - even if it's in code to Dwight - and isn't afraid of being herself or ruffling a few feathers in the office. She imposes her opinions on others and sometimes refuses to take advice. However, voicing her opinion can often lead to good things, such as making her co-workers see that DeAngelo was sexist, or standing up to Dwight and caring for his aunt like a proper lady.
Worst Quirk: Judgemental
Angela is extremely judgemental, to the point of being overly catty and overstepping boundaries. She has often torn down even her closest friends with an eye roll or a snide comment, often focusing her attitude on Phyllis and Pam, who she has, in the past, called a "hussy." It's moments like these where fans find it hard to tolerate her character but, luckily, they were a lot less sharp when the series went on.
Oscar Martinez
Best Quirk: Intelligence
Oscar is, undoubtedly, the smartest person in the office as he is usually the one that everyone goes to for financial advice and knows quite a bit of general knowledge too. Oscar is often the one that Michael goes to for help, as Oscar has a way of looking at a situation from a rational and objective point of view. It's likely that the Scranton branch wouldn't have functioned as well if he hadn't been around as he was the one who often kept the office on the right path.
Worst Quirk: Arrogance
Oscar is known as "Actually" around the office for his ability to interject facts - sometimes incorrect facts - into conversations just to prove that he is smart. However, his arrogance has made him a rather unlikeable person at times as his facts are sometimes unwarranted or unnecessary to the conversation.
Kevin Malone
Best Quirk: Loyalty
Kevin proves time and again that he is a loyal friend. He offers to have Jim's back when Roy found out about his kiss with Pam, he brings in chili for everyone as a kind gesture, and he prepares an Ultra Feast for Pam when she is pregnant. He also has Oscar and Angela's backs when the state senator Lipton disrespects them at a press party at his house, calling Lipton out on his bad behavior.
Worst Quirk: Dense
Although the latter seasons of The Office contained some hilarious moments for Kevin, his lack of intelligence sometimes gets in the way of others' happiness and actively inconveniences people at times (such as the hamburger and cookie conversation with Robert California).
