After nine seasons and 201 episodes, The Office has given NBC plenty of hilarious storylines and characters that are hard to forget. It's been seven years since the show went off the air and fans still can't stop saying their favorite quotes or bringing up their most-liked episodes.

But not all characters are created equal. Throughout the years, new Dunder Mifflin employees and guest characters have made their rounds on the show, adding new blood and storylines to the small city of Scranton. To see who some of the most liked (and hated) characters are on The Office (according to fans), keep scrolling!

Loved: Kevin Malone

Kevin smiling at the camera in The Office

Kevin Malone has changed a lot over the years. He's one of the original employees of Dunder Mifflin Scranton and made it nine years in the ing department before being fired by Dwight.

Over time, Kevin came into his own and his character rounded out. Once we got to know him, it was hard not to like him. He was a gentle giant and someone who really cared about others. He tried protecting Jim from Roy, he got upset when Michael thought he was teaming up with Gabe behind his back, and he was jealous when Angela had her baby because he interrupted their little trio. Kevin wasn't the brightest bulb but he sure was the sweetest.

Hated: Deangelo Vickers

Deangelo holds up his arms to get everybody’s attention in The Office

Deangelo Vickers didn't last long but that's probably a good thing. He took over the position of regional manager after Michael left Dunder Mifflin. It started well at first. Deangelo was similar to Michael but had more of a business mindset than Michael did.

But as soon as Michael left, Deangelo went mental. His managerial tactics shifted and he wasn't as nice as he was before. He eventually got hurt at work and couldn't return but that was probably for the best.

Loved: Jim Halpert

Some fans loved Jim while others loathed him. No matter how a person felt about the character of Jim, one thing was definite: he was the most normal in the series. He wasn't as intense as Dwight, he wasn't as loose as Michael, he wasn't as tongue-tied as Kevin , he had the most "normal" day at the office.

He was forthcoming, kind, and good at his job when he actually cared. He had his downfalls, of course, but he was a friend to all and kept an eye out for his colleagues when they were down.

Hated: Jan Levinson

The Office

Jan is the one character fans loved to hate. At the beginning of the series, she was great at her job. She stayed on top of Scranton and the other branches and was always professional. After her divorce, however, Jan went downhill.

She started drinking and smoking more (per David Wallace) and hooking up with Michael. After she lost her job, she became dependent on Michael and her downward spiral began. She was rude, vindictive, and verbally abusive to Michael. Jan was fun to watch on screen but she was hated.

Loved: Holly Flax

Holly Flax The Office

Who could ever hate Holly Flax? She was the female version of Michael Scott but seemed to have more common sense and a desire to follow the rules. She was incredibly kind to Kevin and brought new energy to Scranton.

Compared to Toby, she was an HR rep who liked her job and the people she worked with. It was upsetting for fans to see her and Michael break up but the writers made up for it in the end.

Hated: Cathy Simms

Cathy Simms didn't have many speaking lines but she didn't them. She was one of the worst characters throughout The OfficeShe was hired by Dunder Mifflin to take over for Pam while she was on maternity leave but once Pam realized how pretty she was, things got tense.

Jim never so much as battered an eyelash at Cathy but Pam was always skeptical. Pam's concerns were validated when the crew went to Florida for three weeks and Cathy tried putting the moves on Jim. After that, she lost all credibility and respect.

Loved:  Erin Hannon

Erin Hannon was so much like Michael Scott that she wanted him to be her father. As a child who grew up in the foster care system and was never adopted, she longed for a parent. She even turned to Phyllis as a mother figure. But putting her childhood troubles to the side, Erin was a welcomed addition to Dunder Mifflin.

She was beautiful and just as goofy as the rest of the office. She was loyal and faithful to her co-workers and would do anything to make people trust her. It was hard not to be affected by her kindness.

Hated: Todd Packer

The only person in the world who liked Todd Packer was Michael Scott — and even he grew tired of him in the end. Todd was sexist, elitist, and took advantage of everyone he came in with.

He may have worked with Dunder Mifflin for over 20 years but he was a horrible co-worker and general human being. He went to the bathroom in Michael's office for crying out loud!

Loved: Michael Scott

The Office Michael with two heads

People who love The Office adore Michael Scott while those who disliked the show found him annoying. Nevertheless, Michael was one of those guys fans couldn't help but root for. He had a hard childhood and as a man in his 40's, he realized none of his dreams were coming true.

He wanted a bunch of friends and a family that loved him. Most of his mistakes at work and in his private life were because he cared too much. He was just, more or less, socially awkward beyond repair.

Hated: Gabe Lewis

Gabe Lewis came on to the scene when Dunder Mifflin was bought out by Sabre. He was Jo's righthand man and split his time between Scranton and Tallahassee. As funny and as quirky as Gabe was to fans, there weren't many people in the office who liked Gabe's presence.

Erin broke up with him, Kelly freaked out when she had to hug him, Andy despised him for dating Erin, and he went after anyone who threatened him. His Lady Gaga moves were legendary but he was not very well-liked.
