Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 9!
The Righteous Gemstones would be ending with season 4. Sadly, the finale of The Righteous Gemstones is now upon us, and while it does mark the end of the Gemstone saga, the series definitely goes out with a bang.
The Righteous Gemstones season 4 has been a big one, with all of the season's various storylines intersecting here. After Corey Milsap killed Cobb in The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8, he has been going downhill mentally. Thus, Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin decide that it would be a good idea for the Gemstones and the Milsaps to head out to the Gemstone river vacation home once again. Upon arriving, however, Kelvin discovers that Corey is in possession of their long-lost gold Bible. This discovery leads Corey to become violent, with him deciding to kill Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin.
Why Corey Tries To Kill Jesse, Judy, & Kelvin In The Righteous Gemstones Finale
He Was Involved In His Dad's Murders
After Lori Milsap was set up as a red herring villain, it was revealed that Michael Rooker's Cobb Milsap is the true antagonist of The Righteous Gemstones season 4. However, once Cobb was killed in episode 8, it left a mystery as to who would be the villain in the series finale. As it turns out, the answer is Corey Milsap. In the episode, the ghost of Aimee-Leigh appears, leading Kelvin into Corey's room. There, he finds a gun and Elijah Gemstone's gold Bible in Corey's luggage. Corey catches him, and later shoots Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin before he is killed himself.

Why Eli Cuts His Hair Off In The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Episode 8
The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8 has set up the HBO show's finale, with Eli's major changes leading to the end of his series arc.
Corey doesn't seem to be truly evil in The Righteous Gemstones season 4, with his violent breakout seeming more like a mental break. After all, Corey just killed his father in the previous episode. While shooting at the Gemstones, however, Corey also reveals that he hand a hand in the deaths of Lori's other ex-boyfriends. Corey has helped Cobb hurt and kill several other characters, with him feeling unforgivable. Although Corey knows that Cobb was abusive, Corey thinks he is too far gone, with him deciding to take the Gemstones down with him.
Does Kelvin Actually See Aimee-Leigh's Ghost?
Or Is It In His Head?
Before finding the gold Bible, Kelvin sees Aimee-Leigh appear, with her walking into Corey's room. This apparation isn't seen or discussed again, leading some fans to wonder if Kelvin imagined it. However, Aimee-Leigh's ghost has appeared several times throughout The Righteous Gemstones, although this is the first time that a character has directly acknowledged her. Aimee-Leigh's apparition may not be a literal ghost. Instead, it is more likely a metaphor for how Aimee-Leigh's death haunts the Gemstones while still guiding their actions.
How Baby Billy's Teenjus Ending Finally Completes His Redemption Arc
He Is Finally Putting His Family First
In The Righteous Gemstones season 4, Baby Billy has been working on Teenjus, an in-universe young adult show about a teenage Jesus. Baby Billy was already pouring a lot of time into it, and after being disappointed with the main actor's performance, Baby Billy decided to play the role of teenage Jesus himself. This causes Baby Billy to further neglect his family, upsetting Tiffany and the kids.
However, The Righteous Gemstones finale sees Baby Billy shut down production on Teenjus. He decides to go spend more time with his family, completing Baby Billy's redemption arc that has been going since season 2.
Kelvin & Keefe Finally Get Married (& Eli Does Their Wedding)
After Their Big Season 3 Kiss
Kelvin and Keefe's relationship has been a major point of speculation from friends throughout The Righteous Gemstones, with many hoping that they would end up together. After their kiss in The Righteous Gemstones season 3 finale, it was known that season 4 would have to properly cover their relationship. This has been a major point of tension for Kelvin and Keefe, with Kelvin not wanting to make their relationship public.

The Righteous Gemstones Cast & Character Guide
The Righteous Gemstones season 4 is finally here, and here is a full breakdown of the show's cast and characters ahead of the final season.
After winning Top Christ Following Man of the Year, however, Kelvin decides to propose to Keefe. The series finale features their wedding, with The Righteous Gemstones ending as the entire cast dances at their reception.
Eli Stays With Lori Milsap (Proving That The Gemstones Have Accepted Aimee-Leigh's Death)
Jesse, Judy, & Kelvin Are Ok With it
Most of the conflict in The Righteous Gemstones season 4 has come from Eli Gemstone's relationship with Lori Milsap. Lori was the best friend of Aimee-Leigh, with Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin trying to break her and Eli up after they begin dating. While they say that it is because of Lori's missing exes, it is really due to their inability to let go of Aimee-Leigh.
Although Eli and Lori break up, the final scene of The Righteous Gemstones season 4 sees her appear in Florida and get on Eli's boat. Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin had previous expressed that they are now ok with Eli dating Lori, meaning that all four of these Gemstones characters are alright with Lori now. The Gemstones' inability to let go of Aimee-Leigh has caused all kinds of conflict in The Righteous Gemstones, so it is good to finally see them accept her death.
The Real Meaning Of The Righteous Gemstones' Ending
It Is All About Forgiveness & Redemption
Two beautiful scenes in The Righteous Gemstones series finale highlight the true meaning of the show. The first of these is Corey's death scene. After Jesse shoots Corey, Corey is laying on the floor dying. Corey asks the Gemstones to pray over him as he dies, which they do. The Gemstone siblings finally take on their true pastoral roles and ask God to forgive Corey, even though Corey tried to kill them. This highlights the importance of forgiveness and repentance, two themes that have been key to every storyline in The Righteous Gemstones.
The second main theme in The Righteous Gemstones series finale is explained in the letter that Eli reads. Lori gives Eli a letter that Aimee-Leigh wrote her during her divorce from Cobb, with Lori thinking that it will help Eli. Aimee-Leigh's letter talks about the importance of being ok without closure. This is important to Eli and the kids, as Aimee-Leigh's death didn't provide the closure or conclusiveness that they had hopes for. However, they are now ok with that, allowing their arcs in The Righteous Gemstones to end.
