Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from The Rookie season 7, episode 15, "A Deadly Secret." Some might be sick and tired of in The Rookie season 7 with episode 15, which contains everything one would expect from the show's true crime documentary style — the good and the bad.
Following The Rookie season 7, episode 14, "A Deadly Secret" presents a new case involving Abigail, Nolan's son's fiancée. Much has happened since we last saw Abigail. Firstly, she and Henry broke up, and she has chosen a new career — filmmaking. She remains on good with Nolan and the other characters, especially Angela, who funds Abigail's documentary. Unfortunately, Abigail goes missing while investigating Westview Psychiatric Hospital (the one with ties to Liam Glasser), and the infamous documentary crew, led by creator/showrunner Alexi Hawley, returns to question the officers and investigate Abigail's disappearance and the mysteries tied to Westview.
Episode 15's Case Lacks Intrigue, But It Still Generates Some Great Moments
The Supernatural Story Also Produces Exciting Setup For Future Episodes
Despite being convoluted and forgettable, The Rookie season 7, episode 15's "case of the week" generates various entertaining, memorable scenes. Of course, it would have been better if the episode could present a captivating mystery and interweave great character moments throughout. But perhaps that's asking too much from the ABC series recently. Nevertheless, "A Deadly Secret" contains many great moments, ranging from cameos by Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej (famous for hosting the web series Buzzfeed Unsolved and, most recently, Ghost Files) to Abigail and her new friend, Bob.
Abigail's return in The Rookie season 7 is exciting, even if it's frustrating how the show so easily brushes over her breakup with Henry. She is a unique, fun character whose lighthearted nature brings something fresh to the series. Consequently, Abigail's direct involvement in the true-crime documentary is a wise choice, as she makes a rather dull, complicated case with supernatural ties much more engaging.
Seth Gabel is so good at portraying the cold, calculated, and manipulative murderer, so much so that one can't help but hope he escapes prison just so he can appear in more episodes.
However, one of the most thrilling parts of The Rookie episode is Liam Glasser. The serial killer appears when Abigail interviews him due to his ties to Westview, and he reminds us why he is the most compelling villain The Rookie has introduced in a long time. Seth Gabel is so good at portraying the cold, calculated, and manipulative murderer, so much so that one can't help but hope he escapes prison just so he can appear in more episodes.

The Rookie Season 7, Episode 10 Review: I'm So Relieved Season 7 Is Rebounding From Its Disappointing Start With Another Intriguing Episode
The Rookie season 7 continues its trend of entertaining, intriguing episodes with episode 10, which is an encouraging sign for what’s to come.
The good news is that the LAPD's findings at Westview give Glasser a new angle to defend himself at his trial. Based on Wesley Evers' talking head at the end of "A Deadly Secret," Glasser might have a real chance at being found not guilty by a jury. As a result, the story of one of Rookie villains as of late is far from over.
Tim & Lucy's Long-Awaited Talk About Their Relationship Is Cheapened By The Goofy Episode
The Couple Deserves More (Even If Their Recent Development Is Promising)
While The Rookie season 7's attempts to fix Tim and Lucy's relationship in episode 15 are promising, how it happens is disappointing. An actual discussion about the former couple's breakup has been long overdue. The show has been skirting around this much-needed talk between them. However, when presented with the opportunity to incorporate the important moment into a drug-induced moment during the episode, the writers couldn't help themselves.
On the surface, Tim itting why he broke up with Lucy (to punish himself) is relieving. Finally, the two Rookie characters are open about their feelings. The scene even leads Lucy to realize that she has forgiven Tim for hurting her back in season 6, which sets the stage for them getting back together. Still, the significant revelation happening during a goofy episode is frustrating, to say the least. Hopefully, The Rookie season 7 has another (more serious) scene in store for Tim and Lucy, where the couple can lay everything out on the table and finally earn their reunion.
New episodes of The Rookie season 7 air Tuesdays at 9pm ET on ABC.
