The first year of college is going to be full of mistakes, from not studying enough for a tough exam to having trouble getting along with a roommate. HBO Max's comedy The Sex Lives of College Girls does a great job portraying this time in life, and while the main characters are happy to be on their college paths, they do make a lot of mistakes throughout all 10 episodes of season 1.
Whether Kimberly is having trouble with her economics class or Leighton isn't friendly enough, the four roommates and their love interests make some bad choices on The Sex Lives of College Girls that will definitely have a big impact on season 2.
Kimberly Accepts Leighton's Offer To Pay For Dinner
One of the scenes that allows fans to see the personality traits on The Sex Lives of College Girls is when everyone goes out for dinner with their families. When Kimberly gets nervous that her mom can't afford the expensive restaurant, Leighton hands over her credit card.
Kimberly's mom Carol is angry and heartbroken, not to mention offended that Kimberly thinks that she can't cover the meal, making this one of the worst things that Kimberly does during her first year at college. While viewers understand that she feels insecure about not being wealthy, it's okay for Kimberly to try to have fun and not worry about her parents.
Dalton Has An Affair With Whitney
When viewers learn that Whitney has been having an affair with her soccer coach Dalton, it's tough to not want to scream at the TV screen that he isn't going to leave his wife and that he's a jerk.
Dalton makes the worst mistake of his life and career by deciding to see Whitney while he's already married. This isn't fair to anyone and is truly bad behavior. Whenever Whitney talks to Dalton about this situation, he makes things even more chaotic and painful by showing how immature he is.
Leighton Only Wants To Live With Her High School Best Friends
When The Sex Lives of College Girls opens, Leighton is upset that her two supposed best friends from high school changed the room assignments so they could live together and Leighton would end up elsewhere. Leighton is livid and unfriendly toward her three roommates for the first little while.
Leighton makes the awful decision to assume that she won't get along with Kimberly, Whitney, and Bela, and she is so unkind to them that it's amazing to think that they do slowly begin to bond as season 1 goes on. Leighton should be much more comionate and open-minded.
Leighton Tells Alicia That They Can't Be Together
Leighton is a smart The Sex Lives of College Girls character, but it's tough to watch her push Alicia away as fans think that the characters have such a great bond.
Alicia tries to show Leighton that they can have a great relationship and that she wants them to tell other people, but Leighton is resistant to that. It's sad seeing how much Alicia and Leighton love and miss each other and viewers hope that they have a better ending in season 2.
Leighton Feels Desperate To A Sorority
It's a relief for viewers when Leighton realizes that she doesn't need to a sorority as when she tries to make a good impression on some other students in the episode "Kappa," she feels insecure and worn down.
Leighton's choice to try to impress people who she doesn't even know is a tough one. While it makes sense that she wants to be accepted and find some new friends, she realizes that her roommates and Alicia are the people who truly care about her.
Kimberly Sleeps With Nico In Her Teacher's Office
The Sex Lives of College Girls talks about college life in a realistic way, showing that keeping up with coursework can be tough and that a lot of freshman struggle to find their groove.
Kimberly makes a big mistake when she asks her economics teacher for some extra credit work so she can be more successful in his class and then sleeps with Nico in her teacher's office. This is a terrible decision and it's even worse when the teacher walks in on them, making Kimberly's situation even worse.
Leighton Makes Fun Of The Women's Center
When Leighton begins volunteering at the women's center on campus, she does a terrible job of making the others like her. She laughs during a poetry reading and refuses to understand why there would be a need for a welcoming group at the college.
While Leighton and Alicia become closer and Leighton realizes that she was too harsh and that she loves the others at the center, Leighton makes the poor decision of making assumptions without getting to know people.
Whitney's Mom Evette Ignores Her For Much Of Season 1
While Evette is definitely an intelligent character and her political career is very important to her, it's a shame that she spends much of season 1 ignoring Whitney and not spending much time with her.
Once Evette realizes that she needs to hang out more with her daughter and the characters bond more, fans are thrilled as it's important for Whitney to have her mom's .
Nico Cheats On His Girlfriend With Kimberly
Nico isn't a likable The Sex Lives of College Girls character since he has an affair with Kimberly while he's already in a relationship. It's a horrible, sad moment when Kimberly meets his girlfriend.
While this would always be a messy situation, it's even worse because Kimberly was insecure and heartbroken after her high school boyfriend Max broke up with her, and she liked the attention from Nico. Fans are eager to see how this will play out in season 2 and hope that Kimberly realizes that she is too good for Nico.
Kimberly Cheats On Her Economics Exam
One of the toughest parts of freshman year of college is definitely dealing with the workload. It can be incredibly overwhelming and it's a lot more than high school homework.
Kimberly's choice to cheat on her economics exam is definitely a bad one, as she stole the test that was in a cabinet at Nico's frat house, and this decision resulted in Kimberly losing her scholarship. Now that Kimberly won't be able to pay for her sophmore year, it's easy to see that this choice could ruin her future plans.
