As adorable as Homer Simpson is, he has never been a law-abiding citizen. Throughout the run of the animated sitcom, he has committed a variety of crimes, ranging from petty offenses to felonies. At times he has been arrested and jailed but on most occasions, he has gotten away with his mischief.
If Homer was fined for every crime he committed, the family would probably be bankrupt, And if he was sentenced for every crime, most episodes would probably revolve around Marge, Bart, Maggie and Lisa visiting him in jail. But even if that was the case, a prison break would be a very real possibility.
He Stole Springfield A&M's Pig Mascot
Homer's incompetence has always angered his boss Mr. Burns. At one point, Burns decided to help Homer out by enrolling him at Springfield University so that he could be more qualified for his job. At the learning institution, Homer befriended three students with who he began engaging in mischief.
As a way to have fun, Homer and the students kidnapped Sir Oinks-A-Lot, the pig mascot of Springfield A&M. Homer began playing with the pig's tail, leading to him getting bitten, He then got Sir Oinks-A-Lot drunk by giving the mascot malt liquor. As a result of Homer's actions, the three students were expelled. Interestingly, nothing happened to Homer.
He Hit Gil Gunderson While Driving
While speeding through the street one day, Homer swerved and hit Springfield's most unlucky businessman Gil Gunderson. Both Santa's Little Helper and Gil were eating from a trash can when the incident happened. Afraid of hitting Santa's Little Helper, Homer swerved and hit Gil.
Sensing an opportunity to make money via compensation, Gil, who had sustained a neck injury, sued Homer. A combination of Gil not being able to afford a proper lawyer and him not looking presentable in court made him lose the case. Homer should clearly have gone to jail for speeding and for endangering people's lives.
He Started Working As A Limo Driver Without A Chauffer's License
Homer once chose to invest in Halloween pumpkins. Instead of selling them on Halloween, he chose to keep them till January, thinking they will be more valuable since no one else would have them. It turned out that no one was interested in buying Halloween pumpkins in January.
Homer thus lost all his money. Moreso, he hadn't told Marge about the investment. Desperate, he chose to become a limo driver. He was eventually pulled over for not having a chauffer's license. Surprisingly, he was just allowed to go after talking his way through it.
He Defied A Court Order
Bart has no idea how not to get in trouble. On one occasion, he and his friends spotted Chief Wiggum's unattended squad car in the street so they got inside to play. After being barked at by a police dog, they panicked and crashed into a tree. In court, Bart's friends were dismissed by Judge Snyder who argued that "boys will be boys."
However, before Bart's trial, Snyder went on vacation and the merciless Judge Harm took over. She gave a ruling that Bart and Homer should be tied to each other at all times. The two broke this rule and even vandalized Harm's house. When presented before the court again, Snyder returned from vacation, setting them free with the argument that "boys will be boys."
He Stole An Ice Cream Truck
After getting the impression that his employees weren't motivated, Mr. Burns set up an exercise program at the Nuclear power plant. Most employees loved the program but Homer wasn't one of them. He began looking for ways to avoid it, including deliberately injuring himself so that he could work from home. That didn't work.
He then discovers that people with hyper-obesity could be allowed to work from home. He thus made it his mission to gain 300 pounds. To achieve that goal quickly, he stole an ice cream truck, hoping to clear all the stock in it.
He And Bart Engaged In Grifting
While driving back home one day, a surgeon fell from the sky and damaged the family car. Apparently, the poor doctor had fallen from a Russian space station. Bart offered to fix the car with the money he got from his magic act.
When he failed to keep his promise, Homer kicked him out of the car, leaving him to walk home. Strangers felt pity for Bart hence they gave him taxi money. Seeing this, Homer decided to get money to fix the car by tricking people to give Bart money. They continued doing this even after getting enough money, with no serious consequences.
All The Times He Strangled Bart
One of the things that Homer does all too frequently is strangling Bart whenever he is angry. Interestingly, he has never received any form of punishment for this habit.
There are numerous examples of incidences where Homer strangled Bart. When he told Bart to not follow in his footsteps, Bart said he would never even use the bathroom after him. Homer then strangled him. He also strangled Bart when the young boy fooled him with a fake radio announcement. He also strangled Bart for flushing his wallet down the drain. It shouldn't have to be said, but child abuse should never go unpunished by the law.
He Stole Candy And Caused Destruction Of Property
While attending a candy convention, Homer made Marge wear an over-size trench-coat so that they could smuggle out as much candy as possible. He filled Marge's pockets with too much candy, so much so that she couldn't move.
In order to flee without getting caught, Homer created an improvised cola bomb and made it explode. His aim was to create a commotion, making it difficult for anyone to spot the thief. Unfortunately, several people were injured in the process. Windows of buildings were also shattered.
He Also Stole Plutonium
The intelligent Lisa once contested in the Science Fair by submitting a nuclear physics project. Fearing that her fellow contestants would beat her to the prize, Homer decided to help her by stealing plutonium from the nuclear power plant. He then went ahead to build a tiny reactor.
Lisa wasn't impressed by Homer's actions so she demanded that he gets rid of the reactor. Not sure what to do with the reactor, Homer began using it to threaten everyone who offended him or his family.
He Manipulated Ned Into Killing People
The religious serial killer Ned Flanders once saw Mr. Burns disposing of toxic nuclear waste in a lake. Shortly after, he heard the "voice of God" instructing him to kill Burns. He did so, then threw Burn's head into the radiated lake. After hearing more voices, he proceeded to murder Sideshow Bob, Snake, Patty, and Selma Bouvier.
It turned out that "God" was actually Homer talking to Ned via a tiny speaker in Ned's bible. Homer wanted to get rid of everyone who was causing him trouble, including his boss Burns.
