The Studio's cast also includes Catherine O'Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Kathryn Hahn in main roles, alongside a slew of guest stars playing themselves, such as Bryan Cranston, Martin Scorsese, Anthony Mackie, Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde, Zac Efron, and many more.

Now, a few weeks before the season 1 finale on May 21, Apple TV+ has officially announced that The Studio has been renewed for a second season. The announcement was made accompanied by a clip from episode 5, "The War," in which Continental executives Matt, Sal Saperstein (Barinholtz), and Quinn Hackett (Wonders) discuss their "formula" for success. Watch the clip below:

Co-creators and executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg shared the following statement:

We're thrilled to be making a second season of The Studio. We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for 10 more seasons. And, we’re excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, also shared a statement:

Seth, Evan, and the entire creative team and cast of The Studio have knocked it out of the park with this brilliant show, and it has been incredible to watch the conversation grow with each new episode. We can’t wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two, and hope for his sake that the Kool-Aid movie crushes at the box office.

What The Studio Season 2 Renewal Means For The Show

Apple TV+ Has Found Its Next Flagship Series

Even before The Studio premiered on Apple TV+ this past March, it was shaping up to become the streamer's next must-watch series after the Severance season 2 finale, and the streamer's best comedy since Ted Lasso season 3. Not only does it boast a star-studded cast, but The Studio's reviews have been raving about the show's sharp satire, while still showing a deep reverence for the film industry, resulting in a stellar 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Studio has also been one of the most popular shows on streaming since its premiere.

4 Reasons Reviews For Seth Rogen's New Apple TV+ Comedy Are So Great

Seth Rogen’s The Studio is now streaming on Apple TV+, and boasts strong reviews for its unique storytelling and relevant themes about Hollywood.

In mid-April, co-showrunner Alex Gregory provided a positive update on The Studio being renewed for a second season. Asked what aspects of the film industry he would want to tackle in season 2, Gregory said they "might like to go overseas for something." He also said they would like to keep doing the show "indefinitely," suggesting it could be continued for multiple seasons.

Our Take On The Studio's Season 2 Renewal

The Kool-Aid Movie Storyline Will Continue

The Studio's renewal gives the show a chance to continue some of its storylines into a second season, including Continental Studios' Kool-Aid Movie. Matt greenlit a movie based on the Kool-Aid Man in episode 1, and in The Studio episode 7, they finally started casting the movie. It's unclear what progress the project will make in season 1's final three episodes, though the Kool-Aid Movie storyline should continue into the second season, possibly entering production and crushing it at the box office.

By continuing the Kool-Aid Movie storyline, The Studio season 2 should continue providing sharp satire while featuring some of Hollywood's top stars playing themselves.
