Per The Hollywood Reporter, Olyphant has been tapped to co-star in a remake of 2021’s The Trip with Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, and Juliette Lewis. Originally dubbed I Onde Dager, the original Norwegian film starred Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Aksel Hennie (The Cloverfield Paradox) as a dysfunctional couple who travel to a remote cabin each with plans to kill the other. Directed by Jorma Taccone (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping), Segel and Weaving are set to assume the roles once played by Rapace and Hennie.

Other cast additions include Paul Guilfoyle and Keith Jardine, with production already underway in Finland. Boasting 83% Fresh critical and audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, the 2021 version of The Trip is currently available on Netflix. Our Take On The Trip's English-Language Remake

The Remake's New Cast Points To A Big Emphasis On Its Comedic Elements

While most English-speaking audiences put a great deal of emphasis on the horror movies that emerge out of Hollywood studios, Scandinavian horror movies have also attracted a good deal of international attention in recent years. However, Olyphant’s remake of The Trip promises more than simple thrills, and the movie’s choice of director and its cast would also point to a heavy emphasis on the comedic elements as well.

With Olyphant already a deft hand at blending both horror and comedy thanks to his work on The Santa Clarita Diet, his involvement will undoubtedly blend well with the proven comedic chops of Segel, Weaving, and Lewis. Whether this new version will generate the same positive response as the original movie remains to be seen, but the impressive cast list bodes well for a successful adaptation of The Trip.

The Trip Is A Perfect Followup For Yellowjackets' Juliette Lewis

Her Yellowjackets Performance Makes Her Well-Suited To The Trip

Following the fate of Lewis' character, the adult Natalie, in the Yellowjackets season 2 ending, The Trip is a perfect followup project for her. Yellowjackets contains plenty of horrifying drama in the past and present-day storylines, including cannibalism and covering up murders. The Trip provides an opportunity to play to many of the same strengths that contributed to her standout Yellowjackets performance.

Yellowjackets' blend of horror and dark comedy makes Lewis well-suited to star in the English-language remake of The Trip. Her performance was among the best in the previous seasons of the Showtime series and will be sorely missed in Yellowjackets season 3 in the aftermath of the character's shocking fate. The Trip provides an opportunity to play to many of the same strengths that contributed to her standout Yellowjackets performance.
