Spin-offs of reality shows have proven to be a huge success, and The Ultimatum: South Africa didn't disappoint, leaving the audience wondering which couples are still together. The South African version of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On dropped on Friday, May 10, introducing six couples who underwent the test of honesty, trust, love, and desire. These couples were Genesis B and Mmathabo Thabby, AKA Thabi, Courtney and Aiden, Sizakele Dhlamini and Lindile Nibe, Ruth Khathide and Isaac Kaninda, Khanya Nqolase and Nkateko Mahange and Lebo and Nolla.

Hosted by the South African power couple Salamina and Howza Mosese, the nine-part series offered a premise that kept The Ultimatum: South Africa season 1 watchers hooked. From seasoned relationships to budding romances, each pair started their journey with uncertainty about how their relationship would end. Throughout the experiment, emotions ran high as the pairs grappled with the concept of forever and the allure of a new vibe with their trial partners. Some couples found clarity in their relationships, while others faced unexpected challenges that shook their foundation.

Khanya & Nkateko

Mean Girl Khanya

Khanya and Nkateko had been in a relationship for a year before Khanya issued an ultimatum. The couple started their season on a high, with Khanya hopeful their relationship would get to the next level. However, Nkateko felt the duo wasn't ready to take that bold step, expressing his concerns about the need to be financially stable before marrying her. During their time on The Ultimatum: South Africa, Khanya partnered with Isaac while Nkateko was with Sizakele.

Nkateko and Sizakele's connection grew so close that jealousy started taking over Khanya, earning her the title of mean girl Khanya. She, Nkateko, and Sizakele had numerous heated arguments. Khanya was so obsessed with Nkateko and Sizakele's unique bond that she frequently targeted her, making disparaging comments about her body. Eventually, Nkateko offered Khanya a promise ring, which infuriated her.

His promise ring was to work through their issues, stating that one day he would get to walk down the aisle with her. Khanya wasn't satisfied with the offer and declined it, crumbling and ultimately ending their relationship. Khanya and Nkateko are no longer together. Currently, Nkateko prioritizes his health and posts regular workout gym sessions. Conversely, Khanya is focused on crafting her digital space and welcoming a baby boy in January 2024.

Ruth & Issac

The Betrayal

After dating for two years, Ruth issued an ultimatum to her boyfriend, Isaac, because she felt he was avoiding being in a committed relationship. Isaac hadn't introduced her to his family, making Ruth doubt his long-term plans with her. He blamed his hesitation in introducing Ruth to his family on his culture, as his culture only introduces significant others to his parents if they plan to get married (via Netflixsa).

"In my culture we can't just bring a woman home without that woman being our wife. If I have to break it down the amount of time that we actually spend together, I can put it back to eight months. That's still a short period of time to get to know somebody that well, and you have that feeling to get married to them."

Once in The Ultimatum Marry Or Move On Mzansi edition, Ruth was paired with Nolla, whereas Isaac spent his trial marriage weeks with Khanya. Tension rose when Isaac learned of Ruth's infidelity during her trial marriage with Nolla. Despite his belief that Nolla could have influenced Ruth, The Ultimatum South Africa star couldn't come to with the betrayal. Isaac expressed his distrust in The Ultimatum: South Africa episode 9, leading to the end of their relationship.

Courtney & Aiden

The Reserved Timid Couple

Courtney and Aiden were one of the two couples with the longest-standing relationship in The Ultimatum South Africa edition. The couple had dated for seven years, with Courtney issuing the ultimatum. During The Ultimatum: South Africa trailer, Courtney expressed how vulnerable she felt in the relationship and how much she had questioned her feelings for Aiden. Courtney was unsure if her feelings towards Aiden were lust or love after all this time.

Courtney partnered with Genesis, which showed her how much she loved Aiden. Aiden's experience wasn't the best because his trial partner left in the middle of the experiment. He said in a confessional that witnessing the chaotic confrontation between Lebo and Nolla after the infidelity showed him Courtney was his perfect match. Aiden proposed to Courtney, and the couple hasn't shared further details about their union, preferring to lead a private life. Courtney also gave Aiden a promise ring, symbolizing their long and forever journey as a team.

Thabi and Genesis

The Vibrant Lady With The Joy Of Her Heart

Like Courtney and Aiden, Thabi and Genesis had been together for seven years before getting on The Ultimatum: South Africa. Thabi stated that she had reached a point where she couldn't envision a life without Genesis, who was hesitant to take their relationship to the next phase. Their relationship seemed to have a formidable start until Thabi and Genesis started developing connections with different partners. Thabi connected with her trial marriage partner Lindile, which left Genesis anxious, not knowing how their future would wind up.

Despite his fears, Genesis proposed to Thabi, and she accepted the ring. Although Thabi doesn't have a ring on her finger in the recent posts, which could represent delayed marriage plans, the couple's bond is incredible. The lovebirds seem to be growing stronger each day, with Genesis showing his commitment to her by posting a picture of the two with the caption, "marry or move on?"

Sizakele and Lindile

Are They Opportunities Or Real Lovers?

Sizakele and Lindile were one of the most shocking couples in The Ultimatum: South Africa, as they had only been together for six months before Lindile gave her an ultimatum. Lindile stated that after being in many relationships, he was sure that Sizakele was his life partner. The duo went through turbulent times, with Lindile telling Sizakele to refrain from calling him pet names or showing affection (via Netflixsa). However, on the ultimatum day, Lindile poured his heart out to Sizakele, expressing his love for her.

"The reason why I choose you is because I can grow with you. The reason why I choose you is you're my best friend. I can be myself, I can laugh and do all the weird stuff around you. And lastly the reason why I choose you is because I love you."

Sizakele accepts Lindile's proposal, and the couple is still engaged. There have been rare sightings of the couple, who have busy schedules. Sizakele works as an event manager, while Lindile pursues modeling and acting. However, the Ultimatum South Africa fans were quick to call out Lindile, claiming he could have ed the show to advance his career. It is not the first time Lindile has been on a reality TV show. He appeared in The Masked Singer: South Africa.

Lebo and Nolla

A Recipe For Disaster

Lebo and Nolla had been together for a year and a half before ing The Ultimatum South Africa. Lebo voiced her concerns over Nolla's flirtatious behavior. However, Nolla defended his behavior, indicating there was no malicious intent and that he was a friendly person. Tensions arose during their trial marriage when Nolla's trial marriage partner, Ruth, confessed to Lebo that she and Nolla had gotten intimate.

Lebo was so infuriated it led to massive drama on The Ultimatum South Africa involving Ruth's partner Isaac. Nolla and Lebo left the experiment after his infidelity and are no longer together. Their drama was way too chaotic as Lisa Horne and Brian Okoye's, whose journey on The Ultimatum was marred by Lisa's jealousy and how she constantly pushed Brian into making hasty decisions. Eventually, The Ultimatum season 2 star claimed she was pregnant, and that's how they left the show.
