The first trailer for the 3rd season of Netflix's The Umbrella Academy gave fans a taste of the wild ride to come when season 3 drops on June 22nd. The first two seasons were based on the graphic novels of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, however, as often happens with page-to-screen adaptations, each season featured some heavy deviations from the source material.

Several stories have been left out of the first two novels, though there is plenty of room for those stories to be introduced, along with stories from the third novel in the newest season. Season 3 is set to premiere on June 22, giving fans plenty of time to speculate which stories could be introduced as the show moves forward.

The Eiffel Tower Is A Spaceship

The Umbrella Academy Vol. 1: Apocalypse Suite jumped right in with the bizarre, as the young Umbrella Academy arrives in Paris just as the Eiffel Tower goes insane. Number Five is presumably already off in the future at this time. While Vanya and Hargreeves watch from high above in an airplane while the team defeats a zombie Robot Gustave Eiffel inside the tower, which is a spaceship.

Though the Eiffel Tower battle occurred while the Umbrella Academy was still young, the show hasn't shied away from flashbacks in previous seasons. As a result, seeing such an event would help to realign viewers with the strange version of the world the unwilling heroes inhabit. Not only that, it would give an even better idea of just what these young children were truly up against.

The Murder Magician

In the show, each character looks different than they do in the comics, and Alison is no exception. In a bonus story at the end of The Apocalypse Suite, a purple-haired Rumor stood over her own dead body. The culprit turned out to be The Murder Magician, who would go on to announce his deviousness on live television not long after.

Once captured, The Murder Magician is sent by Hargreeves to the Hotel Oblivion, his prison in space. The Murder Magician shows back up in Vol. 3, Hotel Oblivion. Presumably, this is a story that will show up at some point in season 3, unless the Netflix series decides on some major alterations. A chance to delve into who The Murder Magician is would allow for the prison to be set up in some interesting ways.

The Orchestra Verdammten

One of the saddest things about the Umbrella siblings is their fractured relationships with one another. While the show made Viktor a more sympathetic character right off the bat by exploring his depression, the character is given far less depth in the graphic novel. As a result of Vanya's lack of development in the comics, she jumps on board with a plan to end the world presented by the Orchestra Verdammten with barely a second thought.

While the apocalypse that was kick-started by Viktor was averted in the show, the Orchestra never even made an appearance. This leaves the window wide open for the group to appear in future episodes, especially now that Viktor knows that he is special.

The Terminauts

The Terminauts were a bunch of murderous robots created by Dr. Terminal, a foe the Umbrella Academy defeated when they were younger. The robots were programmed to activate whenever the siblings all got together again, causing as much death and destruction as possible.

With the family returning to an altered timeline, it is unsure what place the Umbrella Academy has in the world, or if they ever fought Dr. Terminal at all. However, bringing his robots to life would be one way the show could unite the group with the Sparrow Academy.

God As A Cowboy

Klaus Hargreeves heaven

Klaus is no stranger to death, as shown in both the show and the graphic novels. However, his on-screen death in season 1 is considerably different from the death he experiences in Vol. 2: Dallas. God in the show manifests as a little girl on a bicycle, who speaks with Klaus only long enough to say that she doesn't like him, before sending him to speak with Hargreeves.

In the comics, God appears as a cowboy, who indicates that Klaus may be immortal since the devil doesn't like him either. That implication could show up in season 3, potentially with Klaus dying yet again, perhaps this time to meet the maker in a different form.

Mummies In Vietnam

A mummy shooting lasers through its eyes in The Umbrella Academy comic.

In the show, Klaus went back in time by himself, winding up in Vietnam where he met and then lost Dave, which has been one of the saddest things about Klaus so far. However, in the graphic novel, Klaus takes Diego and Luther with him, and they battle it out with a giant reanimated mummy while waiting to stop the Kennedy assassination.

It's unlikely that the show will revisit Vietnam, especially with Klaus once again meeting up with and losing Dave in season 2. That doesn't mean it wouldn't be a lot of fun to see Klaus, Diego, and Luther battling it out with a larger-than-life, angry mummy at some point.

The Prime-8's

The show touches on the relationship between Diego and Viktor, but not much. In the comics, the two siblings were much closer in their youth. Vanya and Diego even played in a punk-rock band together, called The Prime-8's. After some antics on stage got out of hand, Hargreeves put an end to the band, believing it, and Vanya to be a distraction to Diego.

When Vanya was to be sent to music school in Paris, Diego attempted to run away with her, but his sense of obligation toward the Umbrella Academy prevented it, and she was left on her own. Seeing their history together on the show could help explain why Viktor's tell-all book hurt Diego more than any of the other siblings.

Klaus Working For A Biker Gang

Klaus's connection to the dead is one of the coolest powers in The Umbrella Academy, but things get a bit disturbing in Vol 3: Hotel Oblivion. Klaus is working for a gang of bikers, using his skills to gain the location of lost money from wealthy widows, and relying on them to provide his drugs.

Klaus double-crossing the bikers so he can go shoot up in a filthy house is a new low, which only gets worse when one of the bikers leaves him for dead in a pile of trash. Klaus wakes up in the hospital only to see Ben for the first time in the comics - leaving fans to wonder if seeing a different Ben, alive and well with the Sparrow Academy might be enough to send him off the deep end.

Luther and Diego In Space

Vol. 3: Hotel Oblivion sees Luther in the middle of what can best be described as an early mid-life crisis, while Diego is still angry, but trying to keep everything together. The two shoot off into space with Dr. Zoo and thanks to an odd space merging, are forced to find common ground for the first time in their adult lives.

There has been so much strife and tension between all of the Hargreeves siblings, that finding the space to allow the characters to grow closer together may be exactly what the next season of the show needs. Especially these two siblings, whose constant at-odds squabbling has largely overridden other facets of their characters.

The Perseus Family

Umbrella Academy John Perseus

John Perseus the 3rd is the son of a villain vanquished by Hargreeves to the Hotel Oblivion after the Umbrella Academy brings him to justice. Perseus uses the wealth of his father's company with one goal in mind: to get his father back through any means necessary.

All signs point to the Hotel Oblivion (or at least some form of it) being a focus of season 3, so it is likely Perseus will be involved in some capacity. However, the show does like to go off in its own direction, so there's no telling how big or small a role he may play.
