From the pilot, The Vampire Diaries was said to be Stefan Salvatore's story. The show evolved as more characters were introduced and others took a backseat, but Stefan has always been at the heart. The series started when Stefan returned to Mystic Falls and ended when he died and found peace with his brother.

It took a long time for viewers to learn the truth about Stefan's past, as he's known for being quiet and closed off. But he began to open up about his life as The Vampire Diaries went on and even shared parts of it he wasn't proud of. Nevertheless, there are still things about Stefan that even die-hard fans might not be aware of.

He Climbed Mount Everest

Stefan drops the biggest bombs in the most casual way, which is why it's easy to forget a lot of the impressive things he's done throughout his life. After climbing a mountain with Elena on what they thought would be her last day as a human, he mentions that he has climbed Mount Everest.

She teases that no one likes a bragger, but Elena should have grilled him for information. Stefan climbing the mountain is a story that most viewers would love to hear.

He Loves "Seinfeld"

Stefan doesn't usually offer information about himself freely, but the rare occasions he does are always enlightening. It's ironic that Stefan, who prides himself on his heroism, is such a big fan of a show like Seinfeld.

The entire show is centered around a group of horrible people who all do horrible things. It's something about Stefan that no one ever could've guessed, which is what makes it so interesting. However, he did say that while Seinfeld is the best American television show of the past fifty years, I Love Lucy is the best of all time.

He's Graduated High School 17 Times

Surviving high school once is hard enough, but Stefan went through the process multiple times. This was one of the biggest mysteries fans had about Stefan as they questioned why he would put himself through the process that much. It can't be too hard for a vampire to compel their way out of annoying situations, and given that Stefan knew more information than all of the teachers combined, what was the point?

Stefan tells Damon that Mystic Falls is his seventeenth high school graduation, but he never elaborates on it. It made sense that Stefan went back to be with Elena, but there are still so many unanswered questions about Stefan's past The Vampire Diaries fans don't know the answer to.

He Died At 171 Years Old

It's not too difficult to calculate The Vampire Diaries. In 1864, Stefan was turned into a vampire and frozen at only seventeen. Stefan stopped aging physically, but it did become less believable as the show went on, given that Paul Wesley was in his mid-thirties.

Since Stefan found peace in 2018, he was 171 when he died. He was a vampire for approximately 154 years, which, when put in perspective, isn't a very long time. A large majority of the vampires in the show were alive for several centuries.

His Favorite Color Is Blue

If there's anyone who can get information out of Stefan, it's Caroline Forbes. During the very first episode of the series, she took a liking to him and decided to learn all she could during third and fourth periods.

He lied to her about having parents in the military as a way to explain why he moved around a lot, but there didn't seem to be a reason to lie about his favorite color being blue. Caroline tells Bonnie that they're planning a June wedding, and one of the The Vampire Diaries is when it actually happens.

He Didn't Want To Keep Damon And Elena Apart In The Books

The drama between Stefan, Elena, and Damon was one of the best love triangles in The Vampire Diaries Universe. However, some fans may not realize that the storyline is depicted differently in the show than it is in the books. While in the show, Stefan is angry at Elena and Damon for their relationship, his reaction in the books is the complete opposite.

When he sees how much Elena loves Damon, Stefan apologizes to her. He worries that he kept them apart and prevented the two people he loves most from being happy. However, Stefan didn't understand that Elena loved them both equally.

He Went To Harvard

It doesn't come as a huge shock that Stefan went to Harvard. Given how smart he is, it's likely that Stefan earned his way in, but if not, he could always resort to compulsion. Not much information is given about Stefan's time at the university, but it was only one of the many ivy league schools he attended.

A lot of the information viewers get about Stefan comes from his brother, and Damon reveals he went to Harvard sometime in the 1970s. He claims that Stefan got straight A's, but that was easily assumed.

He's Been In The Most Episodes Of TVDU

Out of all the characters in The Vampire Diaries universe, Stefan has been most heavily featured. There are 171 episodes of The Vampire Diaries, and like Damon, he's credited in all of them. However, Stefan was also on an episode of The Originals, putting his total episode count at 172.

Even Alaric, who was a series regular on two of the three shows and appeared multiple times in the third, has only been in a total of 149 episodes. It's also less than Caroline, who's been in 156 TVDU installments, so far.
