Earlier this week, Madame Tussauds in London released its newest celebrity wax figure, Zendaya. Considering Zendaya's rising popularity with Spider-Man: No Way Home, there's no one more trendy right now than she.
This isn't the first time Zendaya has been waxed. Madame Tussauds in San Francisco, California, also has three versions of Zendaya in different looks. However, there's something unique about the London figure. The artists chose to wax Zendaya's appearance from a red carpet appearance in 2016 where she wore a bright pink suit and low bun for “To The Rescue Gala" on behalf of the Humane Society. Fans, however, had their judgments about the outfit they chose and the work they created.
A Shay Mitchell And Zendaya Crossover
Former Pretty Little Liars star, Shay Mitchell, looks exactly like Zendaya's wax figure in this side-by-side photo. The facial expression and lip shape are practically identical. @KayreeTV wrote tweeted, "This is like if Zendaya and Shay Mitchell were combined into one superpower honestly."
Shay portrayed the sex-positive Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars and has since moved on to playing Peach in Netflix's You and Stella in Dollface.
Was This Wax Figure Meant For Kylie Jenner?
Fans were quick to comment how much Zendaya's wax figure looks like Kylie Jenner, according to The LA Times. The feature that people are comparing the most is the lips. While Kylie is known for her perfect pout, Zendaya's lips are smaller than the pair Madame Tussauds created. Zendaya's eyes are also smaller and more almond-shaped.
Kylie has had some iconic moments on her family's show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and also had her wax figure at Madame Tussauds' Hollywood exhibit, according to Refinery29.
...Or What About Kendall Jenner?
Kylie Jenner isn't the only sister in the family that Zendaya's wax figure looks like. Fans also pointed out that the smirk the wax figure is giving looks like Kendall Jenner. Kendall and Kylie had their sisterly moments on camera, but no one could have suspected they'd be compared to Zendaya's wax figure.
Zendaya has been photographed in the past at various fashion weeks and runway shows posing with the Jenner sisters and now it appears Madame Tussauds has merged both likelihoods.
A Welcoming Flight Attendant
Zendaya has been an actress since she was a child. According to her IMDb profile, Zendaya has been working on TV and film since 2011 and has been in projects like Dune, the Spider-Man franchise, and has been shown in multiple music videos for her voice and celebrity.
With such an impressive resume, fans were bothered that Madame Tussauds made Zendaya look like a "flight attendant." Twitter @Nabielah_smada joked "Why does Zendaya’s wax figure look like a flight attendant?" Fans replied to the tweet suggesting that Zendaya worked on a fictional airline for Mattel as a Barbie flight attendant.
A Remix With Jessie J
Singer and performer Jessie J is known for her iconic voice. With songs like "Bang Bang" and "Price Tag," Jessie's songs have popped up in movies like Pitch Perfect and she has solidified herself as one of the world's top voices. Due to her popularity and millions of people knowing Jessie's face, some fans felt like Zendaya's wax figure resembled Jessie instead of Zendaya.
Twitter @Alamashups wrote, "Why is Zendaya's new Madame Tussauds wax figure literally Jessie J - "I Want Love" cover art?" The cover art for Jessie J had her in a similar pink blazer to Zendaya's and an equally similar facial expression.
Is That Ruby?
A low bun with a sharp part is one of those hairstyles that anybody can pull off, and multiple celebrities don it at award shows or while running errands. And as Instagram @SophieLoveridge pointed out on Madame Tussauds' , the hairstyle on Zendaya makes her look more like "that girl from Sex Education than [Zendaya]."
The woman @SophieLoveridge is referring to is Sex Education's Ruby Matthews, who is portrayed by actress Mimi Keene. Ruby is known as best characters and when compared to Zendaya's wax figure, the resemblance is uncanny.
The Late, Great Naya Rivera
The makeup, the cheekbones, the lips — Blast made it known that Zendaya's wax figure looks eerily like the late actress Naya Rivera.
Naya had some memorable roles and moments in shows like Glee, The View, and The Bernie Mac Show. In July 2020, Naya died suddenly in a drowning accident after saving her son's life while boating on Lake Piru, reported CNN. Due to Naya's incredible voice and acting skills, her memory lives on today, which is why so many people recognized her features in Zendaya's figure.
She Would Like To Speak To The Manager
Like any newsworthy celebrity moment, fans were quick to make a meme of Zendaya's wax figure. One Twitter wrote, "The wax version of Zendaya looks like she wants to speak to the manager." They paired Zendaya's wax version with a real version of Zendaya in a similar look on the red carpet. The differences between the two are subtle but noticeable.
In real life, Zendaya's eyebrows and hair are a tad lighter and her eyes and lips are smaller than the wax figure's version. Nevertheless, Madame Tussauds tried their best with one of the world's most sought-after women.
Did They Use An Older Nicole Scherzinger Model?
Nicole Scherzinger is now known across the globe for her vocal range and dance moves, but she was once known simply as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls. These days, Nicole flies solo and has been one of the celebrities on The Masked Singer, Annie Live!, Moana, and more.
Nicole's success has made her one of the world's most entertaining women in show business. Funny enough, she too looks like Zendaya's wax figure. Twitter @BrownDiggyRiggy suggested Zendaya's wax figure looked like Scherzinger because they recycled a former waxed body. They wrote, "Probably because they reuse old models, so this expression was probably close to the expression of whoever the figure was before they decided on making it into [Zendaya]. [It] was probably Nicole Scherzinger or Kim K. before this?"
Taylor Swift From "Me!"
Although Zendaya wore this pink look back in 2016, Taylor Swift copied the look in her music video for her song "Me!" in 2019, as @Fabridst pointed out on Twitter. The suit, hairstyle, and earrings are all similar.
However, there doesn't appear to be any love lost between the two starlets because Zendaya was once known as one of Taylor Swift's closest friends. Zendaya was part of Taylor's popular #GirlSquad in her song "Bad Blood" back in 2015.
