A new set video for Chris Hemsworth will be back as the titular God of Thunder, and he'll be ed by several familiar faces from past movies, as well as director Taika Waititi. Plot details are still largely being kept under wraps, but some things have already been revealed. For example, this installment will see Jane (Natalie Portman) become the Mighty Thor.
Ever since Thor: Love and Thunder began filming, numerous set photos and videos have emerged online, hinting at what's to come. The Guardians of the Galaxy are set to play at least a small role in the film, and it's been confirmed Love and Thunder will revisit Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) play from Melissa McCarthy ing the cast as actress Hela. Now, another piece of the puzzle may have been revealed.
Just a few days ago, photos of Portman levitating during a Thor 4 scene were revealed, and now a video accompanies it. Courtesy of Natalie Portman Updates, the video shows the actress jerking around as though caught in some kind of windstorm. It could be that this is the moment Jane gets her Mighty Thor powers. This is further ed by some additional Thor: Love and Thunder set photos (via alex), which shows the Asgardians have created a memorial for Odin (Anthony Hopkins) at the spot where he died. The broken pieces of Mjolnir are also on display, and Jane is spotted looking at them. Check out all the behind the scenes goodness below.
Based on the pictures and video, it seems likely that Jane's visit to Odin's memorial triggers some kind of reaction from the Mjolnir shards, which then gives her both the mythical hammer and the abilities of the Mighty Thor. Of course, this is merely speculation; anything could happen in Thor: Love and Thunder. Still, it looks like this is a key part of Jane's evolution into Mighty Thor.
Fans were alight with excitement when Waititi confirmed Portman would be back and would play the MCU's Mighty Thor, and it's thrilling to see it come to fruition, albeit in a far away way without any CGI. Interestingly, the sight of Portman in the air being rocked back and forth by an unseen force almost calls to mind her Thor: The Dark World arc, which many have criticized over the years. This seems to reaffirm the fact that Thor: Love and Thunder has the chance to fix the franchise's Jane mistakes in a big way. Finally, she can get the story she deserves, and that's pretty exciting.
