Thor Levels Up His Already Incredible Powers By Defeating Zeus
Immortal Thor #15 - Written By Al Ewing; Art And Color By Jan Bazaldua & Matt Hollingsworth
After Zeus was defeated, and his powers and his mark were absorbed by Thor, the All-Father has become the greatest god to have ever existed in the Marvel Universe.
At the dawn of the Earth’s existence, the planet’s sentient lifeforce, the Demiurge, bore life upon the primal planet in the form of the Elder Gods. However, over time, corruption overtook the first gods who turned on one another to consume and absorb the powers of their siblings. To put an end to the chaos, the Elder God Gaea mated with the Demiurge to create Atum, the Demogorge and Eater of Gods. Fearing for their lives, a handful of gods exiled themselves to parallel dimensions. Meanwhile, Gaea remained on Earth, seeding life until she deemed humanity unfit to live.
Thousands of years later, Gaea anointed her grandson, Zeus, with the mark of her brother and the First of All Thunderers, Toranos. In the present , after Zeus’s last resurrection, the mark of Toranos was activated, birthing a mad god who would herald the Earth’s destruction. However, after Zeus was defeated, and his powers and his mark were absorbed by Thor, the All-Father has become the greatest god to have ever existed in the Marvel Universe. Now, as Thor struggles to fight the darkness, an unlikely demigod may have prove his own worthiness to quell Thor and save all of humanity.

Thor's Struggle Against Toranos' Mark Is Not Over Yet
He May Need Hercules' Help
With Thor having become the true God of Thunder and Hercules’s proven wisdom to absorb and endure Toranos’s mark, the godly duo may have enough to become a single Elder God and stop Gaea’s apocalyptic threat.
While Thor may be truly all-powerful now, Gaea’s ancient prophecy spoke of a wise god to save the Earth, not a powerful one. Odinson has certainly outgrown his egotistical nature and has developed a great deal of wisdom as the All-Father, but if he cannot resist Toranos’s mark alone, then he will need another to help. In this issue’s preview, Loki and Athena insinuate that Hercules, the son of Zeus and Thor’s best friend, has both proven his wisdom and the trials Loki had set in place to prove Thor’s worthiness.
Gaea’s prophecy seemingly insinuated that one god would overcome her trial, but that doesn’t concretely mean that there couldn’t be two. While lightning and thunder may be a power Marvel's true God of Thunder and Hercules’s proven wisdom to absorb and endure Toranos’s mark, the godly duo may have enough to become a single Elder God and stop Gaea’s apocalyptic threat.
Immortal Thor #15 will be available on September 4, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
